What have we decided? Do I have to buy my son a Range Rover in 6 years?

This is all coming from the same guy that has repeatedly admits to being sexually abused as a minor by his housekeeper while he was a child.
I’m sure he has it all figured out
Perhaps the idiot putting his teenage daughter in an Uber shouldn’t be making fun of kids being sexually assaulted.

How irresponsible of you. You’re a terrible parent

And no, I'm not going to make a 16 year old pay for a vehicle. That's dumb.
Why?
I worked all summer to afford my first car.
Making a kid learn the importance of a job and saving money and earning what you want is a valuable lesson. Much greater than just handing him something he had no part in.

I see you’re paying attention to my post.
Pay closer attention redneck.

Respect is earned. Respect for something that may not be the nicest but glad to have it.
When the kid takes care of the so-so vehicle (reliable but not really fancy) then buy them the nice car or truck.

because, as I’ve said multiple times in this thread, I think there are easier ways to teach a kid the same responsibilities without putting that much financial stress on a 16 year old
kids have the rest of their lives to stress finances

Every well adjusted adult knows there is only one way to raise kids properly and that all situations are exactly the same.

I’ve already bought it and she just recently turned 12. I’ve probably said it before, but after our third was born I had to get rid of my Jeep and get something with room for 5. Bought a used Highlander a couple of years ago. I told her then that it would be hers when she was 16. Should last her through college. Plus I’ll be teaching her to drive in the car she will be driving. I’ll get another Jeep or a truck when she turns 16. I’ll probably have to get the wife something between now and then as well.

Bought 10 yr old Camry, basic LE with 155k miles. Did all the services to it and make sure was ready for another 150k+ with basic upkeep. Told him, if dies before 300k/10 years, that is on you. I drove it for a few months before handed to him, miss that car lol

All you’re doing is ensuring when the stress of finances are real, it will be the first time they’ve ever had to deal with it.
Your line of reasoning is why so many adults today can’t function as adults.

Yeah, Darth. Eventually everyone is going to have their first stress with something.
That is why we as parents prepare them, in a number of ways, to make sure they are able to deal with it.
Amazingly, despite my parents buying me my first vehicle, they were still able to instill these things into me.
Maybe it was magic though. Not sure.

You’re the one setting your kids up to fail. But don’t listen to me. Sit there smug in your own ignorance downvoting away.
