Thats some bullshite. Especially if they only give you 2 weeks notice like OP says. If you have proof as too why you can't make jury duty, they can't force you to cancel flights or hotels that were already planned before they sent you a summons. Someone in the courthouse was just being a dick to you

2 weeks is about the time they give you. I've had jury duty several times and actually served my first time summoned. Was summoned again and had a work conflict (had to be out of state with flights confirmed) and got out of it with out showing up. I contacted the clerk of courts and said that I'd be willing to show up the following week and potentially serve on the jury but I had to be out of town for business that week. Asked the Clerk if she could postpone me and put me in the next weeks jury pool. She told me I was good and didn't have to report. I've been summed a few ties since then but never severed after the first time.

Yes. Bring a copy of Mien Kampf to read while in the jury pool and make sure the attorneys see it if voir dire
