We sometimes play a game using modified stableford scoring system. You could play as individual in one group, partners in one group or as one group/foursome vs other groups. Score points based on hole score, 5 for eagle, 3 for birdie, 2 for par, 1 for bogey, 0 for double or worse. Your target points were initially determined by handicap. If you don't know a handicap, take a guess. Either way, subtract the handicap from 36. 10 handicap would have to get 26 points(36-10). You can bet several different ways, front/back/total, just total, etc. So if a 10 handicap scores 28 points then he is +2. If playing with a partner then add to that for total to get team score.(Partner is 20 handicap and 16 was his target points and he only got 12 points then he is -4 added to partner total of +2 = -2. Compare to other team. It sounds like a lot but once you get all target points equitable then it's pretty easy and you don't have to have the same partners all the time because it doesn't matter if 2 A players are on same team, they still have to get their points.

We play a game called 7 point.
It's handicapped. Throw balls for partners to start the round. Each hole has the following points:
Low individual
Low team
Closet to the pin in reg
Least amount of team putts
Point for birdies
Point for made putts longer than the flag stick
Point for a sandy
You can also call greenies (up and down from anywhere off the green) +1 point if success...-1 if fail
Pretty fun...and a lot going on

Gambling is illegal at Bushwood sir and I never slice!

Hammers is fun, but pricey. Usually every hole has an individual bet value; for example, $1 a hole.
Any time someone hits a bad shot, you can "hammer" them, which doubles the bet for the hole, and you can "hammer" them more than once per hole, doubling whatever the bet is currently worth.
Its fun, but can get out of hand and lead to some hurt feelings. I usually stick to the $5 nassau--$5 for low total on the front; $5 for the low total on the back; and $5 for the overall low total.

Play Las Vegas at $1/point and flips on birdies.

You're right. Our hammer game last weekend involved a moron who lost a $16 hole only to hammer, hammer back, hammer back and then concede $64 on a 8 foot putt because he didn't want to lose $128.....of course he made the putt.

On top of any game we add a thing we call washers. You have disks/washers with the following written on each:
Bunker
OB
Water
3-putt
snowman (8) or triple bogey
You pass them around based whoever is the last to make one of the above slip-ups. Last man holding the washer owes everybody a set amount.

Snakes in a bag
For every 3 putt any player has, a snake is added to the bag. Whoever makes the last 3 putt of the round is left holding the bag and has to pay out everyone x however snakes are in it.
4 players and 5 total 3 putts? The guy left holding the bag pays out $5 to every other player.
This makes everyone putt their arse off.

Nassau with front nine, back nine, total 18, 9th hole, 18th hole, and automatic presses whenever you lose a home ... could do $1 a bet ...

Just remembered another game but don't remember what it's called.
Everybody puts up a set amount. Let's say $10. You pull straws or whatever else works to decide who tees off first. That person also holds the money.
From there, you play skins. Whoever wins a skin on a hole holds the money till the next skin is won. The last person to win a skin keeps all the cash.
The beauty of this is that no matter how badly you are playing, you still have a chance to win the pot. All you have to do is play your butt off on 18. I've seen a guy who shot well over a hundred win $40 simply because he holed out his 4th on a par 5 and no one could match him. Naturally, that's the only game he wants to play now.

I played with a group that had like 5 bets a hole.
You get paid for all eagles, birdies, chip ins, puts longer than the length of the pin, sandies (sand shot in gimme range) etc. It was excessive
For best ball, I like to rotate every 6 holes so that everyone plays with everyone.

We just call it snake, but play the last to 3 putt has the snake.
Every time the cart girl comes, you make the turn, & after the round whoever has the snake buys a round.
Good game if you have a mix of talent
