A couple things I have noticed in this thread and past threads about Louisiana. I love TD, but I feel like it’s mainly one demographic represented on this site, which are white conservative Republican males who are anywhere between 30-80 years old. Not trying to generalize, but that’s the impression I’ve gotten after years on TD. I think getting other perspectives would be helpful in seeing how everyone feels about the state.

Also, for people who grew up in other states, you probably have found negative things about your own state, if that’s the only state you have ever lived in.

I don’t know, just searching for reasons to not be depressed having to live in Louisiana.

1. The People I’ve always found that a good majority of people in Louisiana are the kind of people who would give you the shirt off their back. Friendly, hard-working, unique, family-oriented, and love to have fun.

Sadly this is changing... it's gotten much worse since COVID. People are a lot less trusting and a lot more about personal gain.

2. Cultural Identity We have a distinct culture in Louisiana, especially in South Louisiana that make it stand out from the rest. Good or bad, it’s anything but boring. I’ve been to places where there was no cultural identity, especially in big cities that are full of transplants from other places. Whether it be music, festivals, crawfish boils, Mardi Gras, you name it, we have a lot of originality in our people.

New York, San Fran, NOLA - the only three real cities in the country with culture. This won't change.

3. The Food Not much needs to be said here, you all know our food is amazing, it speaks for itself.

Yup

4. Sports No matter who you root for, we are passionate about sports and competition. This also includes fishing and hunting, which are plentiful in Louisiana.

We have way too many Alabama and Falcons fans here. Otherwise I agree

5. History Our state has a very colorful history, and is one that every history buff would enjoy learning about. The huge gumbo pot of nations and peoples that were part of Louisiana’s history are definitely fascinating and make our state even more unique.

Very related to #2

I would combine 2 and 5 and have a new number 5:

Resilient Especially South LA... this state has taken hit after hit after hit over the last 40 years and somehow, someway, keeps on going. Other states, when there is a bust, local cities become ghost towns... that doesn't happen nearly as often here.

The racism is some of the best in the whole country. So there’s that. I can fly my rebel flag with no problems.

Stupid.

We don't have the race issues most places have.

I miss the proximity to the gulf coast…north Texas is too far from the beach…

There's some great things in Louisiana and I'll always love my home state. Food, hospitality, etc. That being said, there's some things in particular that Louisiana is just laughably bad at for some reason... way, way more than any other state. Two major ones are the amount of litter and road conditions. I didn't even have to know we crossed the state line to know we were back in LA coming back from an Arkansas trip today.
