Maybe we can send your kids to the East and let them go to school from your location. Surely they will survive.

All are long overdo. GK enrollment been in a free fall, large % of home zone kids wouldn’t step foot in a public school (traditional)
Laughing at the people saying greed of school board caused this… sb doing its job
Oh and the race card. When GK went coed in 80 it was 90% white, now it is 16%, Hispanics are by far the majority.

Meh. Maybe mine went to great private schools so we good.
I don’t really mean to joke or look down on this situation. It stinks for all involved, but JP is a bad school system and shitty decisions have to be made.
They have done good with building up the charter/magnet schools in the last five years, but with 30% of the parishes kids in private schools, it sure seems that they could do better considering the taxes paid into Vs enrollment.

What HS in Metairie is predominantly white now? Soon to be Orleans Parish Schools.

THe campus looks so depressing driving past it on the interstate--it looks like a correctional facility.

What do you suggest?
The fact is the area from Causeway east to Nola had a lot of old people with no kids or a lot or people with money who send their kids to private schools.
JP doesn’t have land and/or can’t afford to build new schools. They are doing about the only thing they feasibly can.

If you are including private, I’m pretty sure Country Day and St Martin are pretty damn white. LOL

quote:Haynes is the only public one and that's because it's a magnet school. JP Schools suck but they'll never be Orleans Parish bad. It'll be a smaller version of Houston Public Schools as Hispanics are taking over.

You should got to school in your community, unless you choose not to. You shouldn’t be forced too. Riverdale serves Jefferson and Harrahan. EJ serves central Metairie. Bonnabel in mainly Kenner and some of Metairie. King was lot of Bertrand to the lake. I wouldn’t want to go from Bucktown to Kenner. .

Are any of the non-magnet/charter public high schools in JP considered “good”?
