I’m in my 60’s and if my wife would let me put a missile command in my living room I’d do it.

To anyone that says they don’t have time. Elon Musk plays. You think you do more than him?

I went a long time without playing video games, although we have a PS4 and switch that my fiancè plays quite often.
We recently moved across the country and now I play almost weekly with my brother and friends online. It's a good way to stay in contact and chat with friends.

Everyone has free time. It’s how you choose to spend it. I prefer to go to the gym, hang out with my kids, spend the day in the city, go to a festival, BBQ, hang out with friends, etc. You know, grown up stuff.

So you didn’t read what I said in my previous message. Reading must not be in those things you like to do as a grown up.

Although I agree wholeheartedly that grown men should be doing grown men things, this isn’t Russia, it’s America and I’m not Stalin. So, as long as they’re taking care of their families and being a productive member of society, it’s their business, not mine.

That’s not my point. My point is that I’m not spending any of my free time on video games. I’d rather read a book or play guitar. Video games are something I grew out of when I was 16.

I put video game playing adults in the same category as adult Disney enthusiasts.

feel like some people have no time management. I still have time to watch movies with wife, take kids to sports, lift weights, prep for next day, Kids HW, golf, hunt, travel, shoot guns, and take care of my 1000 acres of land, and be competitive in ranked FPS games.
Sometimes I see things like this and I have to wonder - how much do you sleep? The only explanation in my mind is that you are chronically sleep deprived, or just need less sleep, for whatever reason.
Just like everyone else, I've got a ft job and a family, but in addition I have a side gig for 12hrs a week. I wake up at 6, morning routine, gets kids to school, work, dinner routine, bath routine, and my kids are in bed by 8pm most nights. Usually workout at lunchtime. Then my wife and usually team up on a load of laundry, then I shower and work for another hour or so on my laptop from my bed while my wife does whatever. Asleep for 10. Any later and I feel like shite. Idk where else I'd have time unless I was sleeping less, and then I'd feel like shite.
Weekends there's obviously a lot more time, and definitely bad at time management there.

I already made my point. Life is short and people will be happier / more fulfilled if they spent less time entertaining themselves and instead doing thing that matter.

37 and still do some competitive gaming. It's the competitive aspect that I love and still keeps me going. Don't really play any casual video games anymore.
I'm married but don't have or want kids, which still affords me a bit of free time. Don't see how I'd have time with kids.

No sleep deprivation. What people fail to understand is that all comes in seasons and spurts. I just threw a list together bc that’s what others do. Golf has a season and usually doesn’t interfere with hunting. Taking care of land is largely to clean up for hunting and the rest are from the leased out hunters and farmers. Sports for the kids takes away a lot but it doesn’t last all year. Prep is easy when we know what to do and can do most on a scheduled time on Sunday. That is what I’m talking about with time management.
My point was that all the “grown up stuff” is not every day and there are definite down times when you can choose to do what you want. Competitive games keep my mind sharp and my hand eye coordination high.
I also believe some people have way too long of commutes and it kills a lot of time. I get off at 430 and get home at 5. I have plenty of time between 5 and 11 to do everything I want.

The ole' my leisure activities are more grown up than your leisure activities.
My teen likes to spend the day in the city, go to a festival, BBQ, hang out with friends. Sounds like very juvenile activities.

Late to the thread but its hard for me to respect any man that vegges out in front of a video game for 2 hours every day. Same goes for men that live vicariously through sports.

I personally don’t care how people spend their time. I just hope they don’t neglect their health and family members for games.

anyone who has a job and kids and spends more than 30min a day gaming is absolutely neglecting their family.

I always wondered how many hours a week people play
Sports like
Golf
Fishing
Hunting
Working out at the gym
Also how many hours a week people in general "watch tv"
How many people spend hours on end on social media?
Or going to bars/night clubs etc every weekend.
I would assume the above is alot of time. So why would anyone care if someone loved to play video games a couple hours a day?
No one else cares about how long people watch TV for but complains when they play video games
My dad is a retired teacher/coach(58yrs old) and still plays video games, played video games all his life, watches sports all day on Saturday. He is also an avid fisherman and is in the gym 3/4 days a week and my step mom doesn't tell him squat. They get along fine, spend time together and don't judge what either likes to do. She always goes shopping etc and he never tells her anything for her liking to roday everywhere.
There is something about video games that people hate. I think it's the attention it takes away, the significant other hates it just because they "dont" do it.
The person hating is actually the selfish one.
