He's no Jumpin' Jeff Farmer, though.

Handsome Harley Race and Pretty Boy Larry Hennig were tag team champs in the old AWA when I was a kid. Then in his later years Harley ran a wrestling school here in the St. Louis area. RIP

Decades ago, an older brother of a classmate wrestled Harley in Georgia. Harley threw him off the top rope and put him in the hospital. That ended my neighbor’s wrestling career. I asked him if Harley apologized for injuring him, he said “heck no, all he said was it was my fault for landing wrong.”
Harley Race was probably 100% right. People liked working with Harley because he was so safe, and took care of his opponents. If someone is injured in a match with Harley, it was probably their fault.

He was a legitimate badass. The NWA would send him to Japan with Flair to make sure there was no shite going down during title matches. They would say Andre the giant is scared of two people and wrestling, Harley Race and Haku.

I like listening to him chart the mileage those guys drove day in, day out...long before the Interstate Highway System was what it is now (largely complete), often on crappy 2-lane roads.
It's insane.
Harley, of course, was as real as his in-ring persona. Cornette says he drove like a maniac and always carried a gun.

Dick Murdoch was my favorite. I loved it when he put the trashcan over Ken Patera’s head and beat him with an ax handle.
