Where are you located where the lights went out? I'm looking for information on Nottingham if anyone could help me out. I really appreciate it.

Backup generators should be raised off ground.
Friends in slidell had home designed to withstand cat 5 wind but their generator was swamped by Katrina.
Former energy sec chu said he opposed nuke power because you cant guarantee care of fuel in geologic time. Heck, you cant guarantee 10 years.

How are things in the Pineville/Alexandria area? Flooding from the rain?

Arkema plant explodes twice
quote:
CROSBY, Texas — A flooded chemical plant near Houston exploded twice early Thursday, sending a plume of smoke into the air and triggering a fire that the firm plans to let "burn itself out."
Arkema Group, one of the world's largest chemical companies, had warned Wednesday that the plant would catch fire and explode at some point — adding that there was nothing to stop it.
Harvey death toll rises to at least 28; explosions rock chemical plant
Arkema spokesman Jeff Carr said the chemicals being released into the air are not dangerous to people, although smoke — similar to that of a large campfire — may affect some.
He added that because the facility's grounds have been evacuated since rains from Hurricane Harvey swamped the region this week, the explosions themselves shouldn't harm anyone.
The plant in Crosby, Texas — about 20 miles northeast of Houston — was inundated by more than 40 inches of rain and has been without electricity since Sunday.

Any word on routes into Beaumont. Is it even possible to get off the interstate into the town. Just heard the entire city is without water.

You know what, 90 might have been from someone coming from the west, now that I look at the map.
If you could somehow figure out a way to get west of Beaumont (either NW or SW) and then get to 90, you could approach Beaumont from the west via 90.
This was the story I read. The road was technically flooded, but he and a caravan of other people were able to get into Beaumont via 90 this morning driving through the water (he was in a small SUV).

Been getting hammered in Avoyelles since 9 last night.

Thanks guys. It's a moot point now, just checked and the roads leading out of my house are flooded so I'm stuck.

Not sure where you are in Avoyelles but I certainly wouldn't call what we've been getting in Avoyelles getting hammered. Not even any standing water on the streets. We are very lucky and it's almost out of here.

Was listening to the interview with a rep from the plant that exploded on CNN while driving to work.
Man some of these reporters are idiots
Ex: guy keeps saying that these containers are unstable and gonna decompose and likely explode....yet 2 seconds later reporters asking if they can send boats there to the plant

Anyone know of water pickup locations in Beaumont? My parents are stuck with kids and my grandfather and running low on water. They had tons of water at their house but it's flooded and floating around. My grandfather didn't expect to have everyone at his house.

First Baptist Church. Had a crew of guys from Troy, Alabama come through Flowood yesterday on their way to Beaumont, TX FBC. They were hauling water and food to be distributed.

Bobby Isabell and the rednecks with paychecks crew arrived late last night with trailers full of water at the Salvation Army building in Beaumont. Go there.

Ryno ik you were located in sienna. I'm there now.
Shoot me an area to checkout and I'll give you updates.
I'm in ponchartain on st. Charles CT. Back off camp Sienna road. I'm halfway down that street on the golf course side. I saw a Pic of my house yesterday and water had gone down to about 3/4 of the way up the drive way. Main concern now. Is the levee holding. I'm only half mile from the levee
This was my house at the highest point on Tuesday afternoon.
