They don’t believe in the traditional interpretation of the Trinity. They have their own version of the Bible To make that argument.

My uncle invited them into his house, put a Bible on the table and started lecturing them on Christianity

In college I used to have a job where one of the supervisors was a Jehovah's Witness. He and his wife had not spoken to their only child, a son, in many years. Why? Because when he grew up he told them he didn't believe in the JW religion and married a girl and started his own life. I thought that was really tragic. Their practice of "shunning" is barbaric, but many cults do this (Scientology has something similar). It's their way to force as many people to stay in as humanly possible.

I seem to know a number people who grew up JW and are now "shunned". They're just dead to their parents and siblings.

It's bad enough to get priorities so out of whack that you let any religion negatively impact your relationship with your children but straight up shunning them is batshit crazy.

How are they even still around?

Wasnt the predictions from whoever started it all wrong?

Same with the weird advent folks

Jehovah's Witnesses consider human society morally corrupt and under the influence of Satan, and most limit their social interaction with non-Witnesses.

Sounds like a cult

A sociological comparative study by the Pew Research Center found that American Jehovah's Witnesses ranked highest in getting no further than high school graduation

I think one of there teachings is only 144,000 will ascent into Heaven at the end.

If there is any validity to there teaching I sure would not be spreading their message around.

The thing about JW’s: it would probably be a very popular sect if they’d

Believe in the Truth that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and our Lord and savior? They say He’s a profit so they’re not christian.

Worked with a guy who disowned his daughter and never met his 2 grandchildren. So sad.

I let them in my house once. It felt like an Eastern Orthodox Easter service it took me so long to get them out. Old sweet black ladies. That’s all I have. They were amazing when I answered their initial questions in Hebrew. I was mostly making it up.

That's how they almost got me once. They sent an old sweet black lady and I had a friendly conversation at the door with her. Two days later they send an old white dude and I was like Nah bruh, yall were just here. He said that he was following up. I let him know I was only talking to the old sweet black lady.

Came to our house once, I felt they had a weird, cultish like vibe. Akin to Amway salespeople only with no soap to peddle.

They are a cult and don’t believe in blood transfusions.

If you got it right according to JWs I’m pretty sure you got it wrong.

I did once, but it was a total accident. We were on a family trip and had to stop for a bathroom break and there weren't any gas stations close. Who knew they had church on Saturday? I didn't. But the parking lot was full so I stopped in and asked where the restroom was. Ended up staying for an hour and a half just trying to figure out what in the world was going on.

I looked into at the request of a friend back in the late 70s. What I found is there is no love. Only fear of God. No Jesus…..no love.

My mom was raised JW but is no longer practicing. My grandparents and aunt are still practicing JW. I attended service several times as a kid, haven't been in years though. But from what I remember, it was mostly just older men in their specific Kingdom hall reading scripture from their version of the Bible and encouraged participation from the congregation during service and tying the scripture to modern day society. In a lot of ways it's kindve like a religion class or Sunday school. There are a lot of issues with their religion and it absolutely can be cultish (although by definition all religions are) and has caused some minor issues with family, but thankfully my grandparents dont practice the whole shunning component of the religion and have been active in our lives.

And don't get me wrong when they go out in service, aka door to door sale of the religion, it is quite annoying, thankfully I always have an excuse in saying I know a lot about their religion due to my family. However, I once had a Catholic priest tell one of my high school classes that, despite their interpretation of the Bible, they are "living out the gospel" and being evangelist for Christ, which is more than most Catholics do, which I thought was an interesting thing for him to say.

Never been but spent a lot of time with a friend who was raised JW. He is no longer religious and did not have very good things to say about his time in that church. I will say the Mormons have figured out sending good looking females opens more doors than the dudes riding bicycles.

I honestly don't remember, I thinks it's just some king James version, but there are like several hundred translations of the Bible. Don't know about Sanders, but if I remember correctly the Wayans brothers were/are JW?

I forget whether it’s the witnesses or Mormons (maybe both), but my buddy’s devout Catholic grandmother told me one time that she gets them to do chores and yard work when they come around with their pamphlets. Got a pretty good laugh out of that.
