You're a health professional and you are actively telling people who have been directly exposed to the virus, not to get tested? Let me know what hospital you work at.
Why Ken/Karen? What you gonna do. Rant on Facebook about it?

Do not question the Karen’s, and the Ken’s. They know all, and are all powerful.

quote:That's not necessarily true. I am in the same boat, and the only symptom I had after testing positive was loss of taste and smell. And a month prior to the test, there was a two day stretch in which I had low grade fever. It was so mild that the doctor called it a cold and didn't recommend that I get tested. I think it's arse backwards that they waited for the loss of taste and smell to finally give me a test, but whatever.
I have Asthma so my body be default is already defective. I know I have a better chance at a worse outcome if I get it.
Anyway, like I said, it's not a foregone conclusion that you would be doomed if you got it just because you have asthma.
It just depends on how your body responds to it, really.

I had one done last weekend - not sure if it was the nurse's first time administering the test, but I thought she got lost in there and was trying to scrape in my intestines.
Second nurse got it on the first time.
Test came back negative.

No point in getting test unless you feel bad... don’t get tested because you were exposed please unless your work requires it or you feel bad.
Why do you say to not get tested? Is that just for where you are located due to limited tests, overrun test sites?
I'm curious because many places are wanting everyone to be tested early and often to catch asymptomatic cases before spreading.
I know a lot of people wanting to get tests before visiting older relatives.

I had the antibodies test. It came back negative and I thought I had it.

Having it weekly.
Mandatory for all Nursing Home Employees. All negative.
It’s not pleasant but not horrible. But what sucks for me is all the paperwork I have to do for the whole staff. I am not swabbing - the Unit Director is- but I am the paperwork person and I charge is setting up the courier pickups.

The medical directors at LGH and Lourdes in Lafayette did a joint video — they said that exposure doesn’t mean you need to be tested.
What is your deal???

My friend tested last week. Got a call from him two days ago telling me he was positive and that I should be tested. I told him I had already had the Chinese flu and that I spent over a week in the hospital with it and he tried to tell me I could catch it again. I don't feel sick and I don't think I can catch this close to beating it. Am I wrong?

I don't think anyone knows if we do or don't get any kind of immunity from antibodies. Most likely, though, since you've had it once if you do get it again it'd be much more mild.

What we do know is that blood with antibodies is being successfully used as a treatment. Not the only treatment but it is one of them and it is showing success in some cases so while we may not have the clinical study to prove it, we do have evidence that supports it.
I took the test last Friday at a pop up site in Mandeville but still havent gotten my results. I gave blood this thursday an right now all blood donations are including the antibody tests for free as well so waiting on those results too.
ETA, after this post I got my antibody results from The Blood Center and tested negative.

Yes, I agree. We just don't know if that means antibodies = total immunity and if so for what duration.
