You can clear around 115k in IB but you work 90 hrs a week, have almost no job security, and usually only have a two-year contract before they say bye bye.

Also you most likely have to live in NYC so that's not like making 115 in the south.

I started my first job as a hospital pharmacist making about $94K. That was 7 years ago.

Hospital pharmacists tend to make less than someone at Walgreens, etc. correct?

Pharmacists make great money but it doesn't increase very much over the length of the career, unless you open your own place.

My first job was in IT about 2 1/2 years ago. Started out at $56,500 and got bumped to about $70,000 after the first year. Didn't get a big bump after my second year though. Going to be another year or two before my next big raise.

I started in IT. general help desk + server admin + sysadmin...essentially the assistant to the one-man department in a 55 user enviornment; I could do anything he could do, but I did it as a temporary part- time thing between college and med school. He typically set up the fileshares and the sort for new users, but I was capable of basically anything he was. He actually started applying for other jobs and told me he was recommending me as his replacement if he got it. That's all supposed to be background into the amount of work I did/was capable of. They started me at $15/hour and limited hours to 35/wk with no benefits.

When I'm done with current training program I should be able break that barrier by a bit- I'm out of school but haven't really "started" yet due to training programs, internships, etc... This is only b/c I'm doing specialty practice but I can likely work 4days/week if I want. Most general practice vets start around 65 or so these days. ER practice and certain areas of the country a new grad (non specialty) can also break the 100k barrier.

Avg vet also graduates with 150k in student loan debt.

I got $65k right out of school as a business services consultant.

Am I the only one who thinks this is kind of strange? A "Business Consultant" right out of college with little to no business experience.

Started out at $80k as a fresh ChemE. If you can get a job with an Exxon or Chevron right out of the box you can push $100k, but ChemE is already a job that sucks up a lot of your free time - the O&G places don't play no games with quote unquote work/life balance.

Yeah I would definitely shake my head if a firm sent me a consultant with no experience.
