re: Holy Cross teacher fired for "misconduct with student"

This is complete and total bullshite. This is the most honorable woman I've ever known in my lifetime and an inspiration to generations of Holy Cross stiudents. Any "rumors" amongst students would simply be because every adolescent male to walk through those doors had a crush on Mrs. Lyons. She was a national teacher of the year and advanced science education on an unprecedented level. The bastard making these allegations 25 years later needs a fricking beatdown. And it will come.
I love a teacher thread as much as anyone - it's one of the pure joys of the OT - but these are unsubstantiated allegations and every one of you frickers making jokes in this thread would be ashamed of yourselves if you knew the character of this woman. And she resigned - she was not fired.

Moto, it's just wording that she resigned..,lets face it, DiGange was told by the archdiocese that she had to be let go, so I'm sure it was resign or get fired...just like Battistella, who also "resigned", when he really was forced out. It's funny how when the archdiocese had their scandal with the priests a few years back, they didn't lose their jobs they were just transferred to other churches. HC needs to say FU to the archdiocese of NO and do their own thing. Sick and tired of what we can't do because they say so

The difference is that they can only fire you when they have actual proof. Someone of her stature would resign regardless so it doesn't become a bigger distraction for the school she has dedicated her life to - regardless of the facts.

Not really sure why Batt was "replaced" as baseball coach, he loved that job and would have gone down with the ship, so to speak. Don't think it was performance based. When he was replaced he was allowed to remain a teacher but this involved a pay cut, so he got an offer from Lakeshore and left.
One reason I heard (yep the rumor mill) was something about him pitching during the summer in a legion practice game where he was out of kids to put in and both teams agreed that he could pitch an inning?

Interesting. I was a student at pope John Paul when he was coaching there but I didn't play baseball. I had him as a teacher though and he was pretty cool.

The email didn't say shite, and was somewhat misleading in that it suggested she had previously quit. It said " she is no longer empmoyed" there. I as surprised because I knew she was still there a few years ago.
There were rumors when I was there in the early 90's. It was always someone's friends's cousin that slept with her. Don't know about any other teacher rumors.
Ms. Lyons was one of the best teachers I ever had, and it's absurd she got fired over a 25 year old rumor. she made a difference for me, and I'm sure many others.

Being a science teacher at a Catholic school has to be easiest job ever. you dont have formulas and evolution to teach so why cant a teacher go scissor and lick some snatch
To perform the scissor maneuver correctly, it takes two females. All-boys' schools are notoriously short on females.
Get it now why your post is stupid?

92 grad...there were rumors back then of a teacher and student, but not of Ms Lyons. The rumors we had heard were of an English teacher and a Quarter Back at he time a few years ahead of us.
Also about 3 years ago I came across an HC alumni after me, who spoke of an Algebra teacher. That one surprised me, if true.

Actually from what he said it equalled (D into A)^n. Dude was quite boisterous on the plane, and my boss was laughing at the entire situation. At least 3 surrounding rows had to hear him.

IIRC, she stepped in after Katrina when HC was relocated to the Dunham School in BR just so they would have a team. No coach, no team.
