No power since last night here in BR. Almost forgot about the green egg and the charcoaled wood on the patio. Grilled steaks, sliced them and added to a bowl of fresh spinach, tomatoes, jalapeños, and shredded cheese for a fajita salad. Heated up water and now drinking hot coffee I made with a french press.

I had some chili for second lunch. Do mine with black beans (decent protein to calorie ratio for a non-meat ingredient) and I shave a carrot into it for a hint of sweetness. Topped it with some diced raw red onion.

First lunch was the good one though, chili lime chicken with a black bean salad and Spanish brown rice. I prep the items separately but they all get mixed together into a hearty serving of flavor

Edit: have -> shave

Imma ahead of you people, made chili yesterday.

Wife wants steaks and I won’t mess with the grill when the sun goes down so early dinner it is.

This is actually chili I made for New Year's Eve that I defrosted. It was great though, and I'm full.

We did not know this was going to be such a ~thing~, so may have to make an alcohol run. We have nothing but the liquor on the bar and a couple KBS.

I think I over prepared, unlike for hurricanes

Ice storms back home = days to weeks without power.

I have plenty of wine but I did pick up champagne at cvs while I was out

Jones is heading to CVS now since it is easiest to get to.

I told him to call me (ideally he could video chat me) before he picks a wine but if he wants to go to Robert that's even better. Its terrible.. my wine tastes keep getting bougier and bougier and CVS ain't up to par anymore.

Although Bogle is very cheap and their wine is actually good. Not sure how they pull that off.

I like cheap champagne just fine though

My lunch

8 different kinds of king cake. All with an incredible amount of icing.

Who’da thought, a pile of shitty arse dough slathered with a pile of shitty arse icing.

That stinks it was just a tease like that. Neighbor on the other side of the subdivision doesn't have power and their house is above ground, so pipe freezing is a concern. Hope they get it back soon.

Looks like CVS it is. Couldn't make the trip to Robert. Too many downed trees on Highland. It always gets bad after storms.

EDIT - Oh I see it is back on for you!

Quiche and Mimosas for brunch. Lamb lollipops, garlic mash potatoes, Brussels spouts for dinner. Thank God the electricity came on or we might have starved!
