Sounds like NOT being a parent is expensive.

Daycare for my Schnauzer is reasonable.

Kids are expensive. Big reason why I don’t have kids
I tell myself that too ever since I became sexually inactive. But I honestly agree with that choice. Better to have nice things like expensive cars and bikes with little to no worries.

Where do you live?

There’s plenty of daycares that are just fine for nearly half that price.

We live in a small town, so I can't really relate to a big city price tag. We were lucky to find an incredible in home sitter for $125 a week. She watched a few kids that my daughter, now 7, is still friends with. And like someone mentioned already, we actually saved money when we put her in catholic school lol.

$815/month and better than most in BR

Than having children?
Secret sauce of happiness are strong relationships. Fact.
Don’t let consumerism plague infect you and your happiness.
Nothing, and I mean zilch nothing, achieves happiness like becoming a parent, cost included. Parent them (don’t outsource parenting to daycare or anyone else - you are effectively snubbing life’s offer of your sustained deep happiness).
Fortune cookie sounding post of the day - done. Now, back to happiness.

Work at the daycare as a side hustle and get a discount. Problem solved

It's been a long time, but when our first child came along we tried both parents working. My wife was a bank employee and didn't make a lot of money so it wasn't long before we realized that we were paying someone else to instill their values on our kid. We decided the best option for us was for her to quit and stay home. It wasn't easy for a few years, but we sacrificed and made it. When our second kid came along and hit 3, my wife went back to college dragging along both boys to class. The professors were skeptical and questioned her, but she told them they wouldn't be a distraction. She set them up in the back of the room where they quietly worked on their own lessons she had prepared for them. My wife graduated, worked 20 years as the music teacher in the local district, picked up her masters along the way, and retired at 62. Both boys have turned out as they were raised and couldn't be more proud of them. My point in all of this is had we allowed someone else to raise our kids, the boys may have learned values other than ours. It was hard on one income, but we prevailed. Long term financially it was far better for us as her degree paid off many times, and that wasn't even a consideration going into her quitting. Our solution isn't for everyone, but it was absolutely the right one for us.

Check to see if your employer offers taking the amount out of your check PRE-TAX. Can't remember the name or term for it right off. But It helps a little to not have to pay tax on income on the yearly childcare amount.

Most women these days don’t want to watch their own kids, you think they want to watch others?

Did Kindercare go bankrupt?

Yes they do. My infants went there albeit only 8 kids total in two classes. Not 7:1. That’s just a licensing guideline. Doesn’t mean they follow it. They just can’t go over it. 2 & 3 yr old is 7:1 which is perfectly fine. We had no issues at all. People will talk their way out of anything just to bitch. You wanted a price for a good one and I gave it to you

3 y/o and 1 y/o.
$1700 a month.
Tallied it all up. When you factor in the money we send for lunch for the 3y/o and other costs, its like $25k a year.
Just look at it like I will be purchasing a boat in 3 years when they are both in primary school fo free

4 extra helpers for 4 kids, so 5 people watching 4 toddlers and you wonder why you pay out the arse?
