We have a group at NRG Park in Red Lot cooking for flood victims and first responders. We have world's largest grill/smoker on site and what we have dubbed the "Texas BBQ Army" who showed up with 6-10 grills/smokers when asked to do so by Dave Klose, master pit designer/builder.
Right now we are feeding lunch and dinner(proteins only) to approximately 4-5000 people daily each meal and what we are hearing is that number is going to increase greatly as the week goes on. What we could use is the following if anyone has access to food suppliers, grocery chains, any business that can donate. In order of importance for maximizing our cooking space and number of people we can efficiently provide food to:
Briskets, Pork butts and loins, beef or pork ribs, & chicken leg quarters. Currently we have plenty of wood donated though that could change as the numbers of people go up.
If you need to reach me: fishingfloridaradio@gmail.com or I can be reached by phone 407-694-5419
You can see what our group has been accomplishing at our FB page LINK
Thanks to each of you in advance for any help and God Bless those of you already donating your time, dollars and efforts to help, prayers gratefully accepted as well !!!

I'd like to try and come help out Thursday and Friday this week. I know there is tons to do, but would like to be as efficient with my time as possible. What are the most pressing concerns at the moment? What type of activities need the most help?
I'd be coming to Houston because I have relatives I could stay with

Tiger91 and WIR, my wife and I want to try and help families individually (kinda match families we know to families in need in the TX Gulf Coast Area), but we have limited resources and we don't know how many families are going to help with this on our end.
I know TxWadingFool and his family lost everything. Do you guys have contact info for him, possibly? DO you know of other families, possibly from the OT, that may have lost everything, and may not get any help?

I need to clarify, we did lose everything at our place in Rockport but it was at our second home, we spend about 40% of the time there. We also have a place outside of San Antonio where we are staying now. My In-Laws place was also their second home, they had a bunch of insurance on it and are getting of bad news on that front, most of their damage was from the 12' storm surge that took out everything below the top floor. They have 3 or 4 different policies they are working on but it sounds like none of them are covering anything to do with the damage from the surge and are saying that's FEMA responsibility but since it was not their primary residence FEMA does has denied them any assistance at this point. We've been so busy cleaning and salvaging what we can while traveling 5+ hours round trip the last week plus I'm not real up to date on their situation with the insurance companies. Our situation is pretty cut and dry it seems, we'll have to eat our losses, we bought our in laws old place, it was a older place with additions that have been added through the years and was not insurable down there due to building code requirements and such. We filled out FEMA paperwork like they told us to regardless of your personal situation but were also denied due to us not living in it for 6 of the previous 12 months. We are now in the process of getting bids to remove what's left of our place and trying to figure out what we're going to do moving forward, really sucks given all the work we've put into our place and not having somewhere to go but we also know folks that did absolutely lose everything so we don't dwell on it to long and we help out where we can. It's a very strange reality we're dealing with, working our backs all day and our brains are on over drive all night, wears you down for sure. Thanks for the prayers and the post of encouragement, they do help when I get to check in on the board.

My parents flooded. No flood insurance. We've been in there ripping it down to the studs the past few days. Lost everything after Katrina, moved to Katy, happened again. Had to get them out by boat when Harvey was hitting. Been a miserable couple of weeks.

Haven't kept up with houston since irma drama has started. how's the city doing, how much flooding still being dealt with if any at all?
Posted on 9/6/17 at 2:35 pm to Chad504boy
Traffic is bad. Areas that were hit hard with flooding are still under some water. We had a string of really nice days, but it has been overcast the past 2 days.

I'd like to add a place in Lake Charles that is accepting and distributing relief supplies.....this is a friend of mine's church that has rented out this huge warehouse....
Please pass of to anyone that would like to help or needs help themselves.
Our Disaster Relief Site is open from 10am-6pm on 305 N. Ryan Street, Lake Charles, La
LINK
DONATE
You can drop off supplies from 10am - 6pm at our warehouse located at 305 N. Ryan Street, Lake Charles, LA.
Although the need for food, cleaning supplies, and baby items at the warehouse is still very real and immediate, we are also beginning to receive requests for the next stages of the relief/rebuilding process. Here is a list of Mud-Out Gear that we need to begin collecting as soon as possible.
-Eye protection
-heavy work gloves
-nose and mouth shields
-rubber boots
-hoses, sledgehammer
-lawn/contractor bags
-crowbars
-kneepads
-black industrial nitrile gloves
-tarps
-carpenter hammers
-wheelbarrows
-flat shovels
-5 gallon buckets
-floor size squeegees
-box fans/shop fans
"Shockwave" mold treatment
-cleaning supplies
-large mops
-push brooms
-commercial mop buckets
-carpet knives
-utility knives
-N95 respirator mask
-flat prybars
-dehumidifier
-sprayers and shop vacs
Some people have already begun this process and we have nothing to offer them yet. We would greatly appreciate donations of this nature
VOLUNTEER
Help will be needed initially with setting up and running the warehouse. We will also need drivers to help bring supplies to the locations. As the water recedes, we will need those who can help with clean-up, and then, finally, with rebuilding. Please fill out the form below and let us know how you can help.

Awesome. Thanks to everyone continuing to contribute to this thread. Since there's a character limit in the OP I haven't been able to add much.
Prayers and well wishes to everyone rebuilding or aiding in the rebuilding efforts.
ETA: tgrbaitn08 I was able to delete an old part of the OP and add a link to your post under "Lake Charles Donations"

large parts of west Houston still underwater
the debris pick up will take a long time FEMA only pays 90 % and the vendor that was under contract starting pitting Florida and Harris Co. against one another, so the bidding war cost time and equipment.
small parts of Houston still without power
mail delivery in 95 %

Me and a group of guys from the River Parishes are heading to Houston and Beaumont to cook for First Responders and anyone impacted from the flood. Both cooks will serve over 900 plates. All set up to take and go.
In Houston on Saturday 9/9 - cooking and serving Jambalaya, White Beans and dessert at St Teresa Catholic Church, 6622 Haskell St. This is pretty close to Memorial Park. Some plates will also be served at Prison Break Tattoos, 5306 Washington Ave. All should be ready by 5:00pm.
In Beaumont on Sunday 9/10 - cooking and serving Jambalaya, White Beans and dessert at the Express Mart parking lot, 11755 Hwy 105, Beaumont. Should be ready for lunch time.

Houston is still a thing?
Who would have thought? The news has not said a word about Houston.

I too am looking to help others and can't figure out who needs the most help, who has gone through a very rough few years and then this, etc. Its almost as if its impossible to choose just a handful or more of people. I do need info of very hard hit areas tho and the closest church or volunteer areas to send supplies if someone could point me in a certain direction. If you know personally of someone or a family that could use a miracle please let me know.
