5 million people blacked out, shite everywhere, and wanting know where his package is. Somebody could use a little empathy and perspective.
A friend in Cape Coral works in logistics. He had a customer call up at 4:00pm on Thursday bitching that his shipment hadn't been picked up. It wasn't a rush delivery or anything, the guy just didn't want it on his dock.

Safety precautions during potentially deadly natural disasters are more important to most people than you getting your eBay order delivered on time.

Or he didn't want the liability of it being damaged before shipment. Pass that responsibility on down the line.

They don't want to add to the population until they can get boats and trucks and enough helos bringing supplies in. It's a wide area to cover.
The LEOs, military, etc. will take care of any old or stupid that stayed behind.
They need to go back to a shelter, toke a few and let emergency workers do their thing.

I'm just posting to take place in a potentially 15000 post thread. Carry on.

Not sure we can "invade" foreign sovereign territory even to help tourist who scheduled a Caribbean vacation in the middle of hurricane season.
We protect our own but we would be walking a political tightrope.
I'd hate to be the one making that call.
Even then about all we could do is see to the safety of Americans.
Police action would not fall under our umbrella of responsibilities.

Absolutely. That's what I meant. It eventually got picked up and became the carrier's liability.

I'm just coming here to vent and didn't want to start a thread on it. I was expecting a package that shipped Thursday from Orlando. No updates on the tracking except "in transit" and USPS is useless as usual. Maybe my package will come in tomorrow and this post is unnecessary. I have a gut feeling that I'll never see it.
Until this post I was thinking we lucked out on Irma. My God how can you cope?

Not a single light on this street. The power company was working on it this morning. I think a transformer blew out so it will take longer to get the power back on.

How can they have a food shortage after 1 day?
I'll answer this question using a phrase my dad used quite a lot when I was a kid and asked him questions like this
"Son, people in general are fricking stupid"

5 of my 6 neighbors been running chainsaws all day. Ain't nobody got time to wait for the city or tree services. My area is cleaning up quick, but there are 10 foot high debris piles lining the street now.
South Louisiana boy here that's been through 3 of these storms. We didn't need the federal government to help except to turn the power back on.

This thing came through Acworth Georgia tonight as a rain storm and not a particularly violent one. However other parts of georgia got a lot of power outages etc. We got actually very little wind. A few gusts.
