When I was younger, I used to always have several very close friends. Now I have a lot of acquaintances, but no very close friends. Not sure if it's because I am very family oriented or if it's a function of getting older, or both.

I'm the same way. I find most people to be too needy of my time, as if they must be constantly entertained. The good friends I do have are alright being alone. If we hang out, great, if the plans fall through, we'll catch up another time.

I'm the exact opposite. I had a lot of acquaintances when I was younger so I would always have someone to go out with. Now that I care nothing about that lifestyle, I've severed all ties with acquaintances and have 5 really good friends.

1. You've never "seen" me. Shows how intelligent you are.

2. Not in Kansas

3. Care to backup your retort with an actual argument rather than an attack? If not, your lack of an intelligent response makes you appear to be the "dumb sob".

You forgot:

your

Which should be you're x2.

And:

Ive

Should be I've.

And:

Its

Should be it's.

Moral of the story, always proofread when calling someone an idiot.

Its true the more I go out the more I realize I hate people, im not sure if this a symptom of getting old. I dont have any desire to make new friends and get tired of small conversation. Am I alone in this?

Join the crowd

I fricking hate everyone with a passion. People suck.

Luckily i have a good family and a wife with a great attitude, it makes it easier to enjoy myself.

My personality causes 60% of my problems with people. It's mostly not their fault

Same here. Hate people and hate small talk - basically because people are just stupid in general. Have always had social anxiety disorder, but in a way it's a blessing.

On a positive note, people hate you. So it all works itself out. You're welcome.

Nope. I'm starting to hate people myself and I'm nearly 47. But I get tired of being home alone while husband is at work and kids are at school/off doing their thing.

eta I think what I hate is what people do (lie, cheat for example) and say (such stupid shite) more than I hate people. I have a few really good friends and lots of acquaintances. How many would I call up to eat lunch or discuss a problem? Maybe 3 or 4.
