[quote]They whine about the cost of living in an expensive borough and expect their 50k salary to adjust to them.[/quote

Sounds like you’ve got it figured out. Where do you live?

Great town

I like it too. It is kind of funny that people want to live in very desirable places in the US and then bitch about the COL though. There are white collar jobs in most fields in areas that have reasonable expenses.

Me either. Sorry San Diego is expensive. It's a desirable place to live for people that have more money than you do. They hire accountants in Topeka.

Yep. People make choices, and. Don't feel sorry for them if it's not perfect. Move or suck it up.

We recently had this discussion with my nephew. He graduated from Arizona State with a logistics degree. He wanted to go to Seattle or California. The solution was easy: math.

Once you sat down and did a budget, there’s no way a college kid can make it on their own there. You’d either have to be married or have a bunch of roommates just to get by.

I have lots of friends that live in LA, SD, NYC. I’ve never heard them complain and none of them are rich either.

What a strange thread.

shite man, most of the midwest is Mayberry compared to the Deep South. Low COL, low crime, good schools. Those damn storms that come out of nowhere can be scary though.

So what if he wants to try?

Maybe he meets someone and does get married.

Or he could just move to BFE Alabama and wonder what if he just tried.

If he wants to live in specific areas, like San Francisco or Seattle proper, sure.

The catch 22 is that big metros are where the opportunities are and wages are generally higher. But yea, don’t complain.

It wouldn't be my ideal location but I could live just about anywhere in the US if needed. I'm adaptable. Hell, I don't particularly care for where I live now, mostly due to the weather, but have a perfectly happy life.

I'm pretty adaptable but there are a few spots I won't even consider. Beaumont, for example. Nope.

There are plenty of jobs near Houston, San Antonio, Indianapolis, Kansas City etc that all have reasonable costs of living.
