Due to fear, imagine how strong a down syndrome Viking would be.

My ex has a child with downs syndrome from her second marriage, and the young man is full of life and happy.
I'll never understand the people who think it merits a death penalty.

I guess they saw Bjork and thought, "We can't take anymore chances."

How many marriages is she on now?

I wouldn't say it's akin to eugenics.
It's a-self to eugenics. Textbook.

man that is just fricked. When I read the headline I thought maybe this was some crispr tech or something used to cure it before birth or something. Wasn't ready for that fricked up sh*t.

There are different complications to raising a child with Downs, but not more. And that child loves me like no one else in this world can.
It breaks my heart that people make these decisions out of ignorance and somehow view it as fricking mercy.

People I have met with Downs syndrome are some of happiest and most joyful people I have ever met. Why on earth would anyone see that as a bad thing
Unfortunately this is all done just so it doesn’t inconvenience the parents lives.

Absolutely. Its disgusting how easily people can devalue life.

Different sensibilities over there. They have very low birth rates so they will gradually die off or import people.

Stop trying to ruin the thread with your estrogen ridden mind.

OK Ill bite and ask what is probably a stupid question or questions.
As I understand it, the majority of people with downs don't reproduce. So how would this be eugenics? How would it impact a population the size of say the U.S. or the subject country, Iceland???
Also, wasn't eugenics largely discredited as a method of controlling genetic traits in large populations after WW2 anyway??
I am not for this but trying to understand how it is eugenics by definition.
Bring on the downvotes but these are legitimately sincere questions.

I was in Europe not two weeks ago and it surprised me how few people with Downs we came across
Chicken could ship some off to Europe if they in need and the Rant would still be above capacity.

My point was all children lead to “complicated” lives, so why are we going to pretend that’s unique to— in this case— a child with DS? My guess is to provide rationalization to do something disgusting for the sake of convenience and selfishness (shocking). And the idea that this is an acceptable practice anywhere in the civilized world leads me to the conclusion that we are fricked.
