The bolded part makes your actions okay. Glad you provided this important detail.

I'm not saying you should hit a woman, more that she shouldn't act surprised when someone does actually hit back.
My stance.
I would say this about a man or a woman though.
I never believe one should resort to any type of physical violence, but if you go down that road then you should be prepared for what comes.

Saw a man get slapped by a big woman once over a workplace dispute.
This was a big woman, and a very large man as well.
Without going into details over the dispute, the woman was in the wrong.
The man turned his face and offered the other side, and she slapped him again... I mean SLAPPED so hard there was fingerprints on his face and this large man had tears welling in his eyes. Not a single person would have blamed him at all if he had decked her.
He just said "Will you give me a second for my face to stop stinging before you hit me again?"
Both got what they deserved... She was fired and he got everyone's respect to this day.

Some woman take advantage of the whole men can't hit woman theory. Some of these big bull dikes hit like men. I would have to have a damn good reason to lay a bitch out but I'm not saying I wouldn't.

If she keeps attacking him and is punching him then yea I am not going to have to much of a problem if she get knocked out/slammed/pushed down etc. Dont go overkill but stop the attack.

I posted about this not too long ago...
I once got slapped crazy hard by a girl for literally no reason. This girl was just an acquaintance of mine. We never hooked up. There was no sexual tension or anything.
I was standing with a group of friends at a bar looking for a friend, not even talking to her... and she slapped the bejeezus out of me. Like, really hard. I think one of my friends might have said something to her and she slapped the wrong guy... but I'm not sure.
I had a foamy can of beer in my hand and I dumped the contents of that can in her face.
I'll be honest... Part of me feels really bad about it, but most of me feels awesome about it.

I live in midtown houston and a girl neighbor(which I'm not friends with) beat the shite out of some guy at the pool 2 weeks ago.
So the guy was talking shite to her friend at someone's apartment, the girl slapped him hard in the face. He tried to stop her from doing it again and accidentally ripped her shirt. She ran out into the hallway and screamed right by the pool that this guy just beat her.
The guy tries to leave and now is getting jumped by 2 guys that believe the girl. My neighbor (the slapper's best friend) jumps in on the action. She is throwing haymakers and doing the most damage to this guy because he couldn't hit her back. The other 2 guys were taken off him but she kept beating his arse.
If I was him I would have hit her. But then the whole pool would get involved.

Tough issue. In an ideal world the man could follow back with an assault charge and not another blow, but male vs. female cases are almost always in favor of the female even if she started it, caused damage and he never fights back. Yes, men can be victims of assault and abuse from women too. 
I can say that I'm guilty of slapping a guy, but he was super drunk and grabbed my butt one too many times. Zach Mettenberger was convicted for sexual battery for less!

Honestly, if I get hit, unless it's by a torrent of flailing punches that I can't help but return fire on lest I get knocked out, I'll probably throat grab her before realizing I'm seeing red and let her go. If she hits my wife, though, I'm taking a two-by-four to her face.
