I had this happen to a family member. Except she didnt die right away. She suffered 2 broken legs and damage in both hips. She was crippled for life after that accident couldnt walk, then suffered 2 strokes over the next 2 years and passed away at 58.
The illegal, wasnt required to have insurance, just walked away without any conquenses. It was horrible.
I hope they throw the book at the owner/driver.

He didnt even look to see who was coming behind him. If he wanted to be illegal but safe, he should have pulled onto the shoulder and waited for clearance on both sides...making a uturn anywhere is super dangerous.

It’s too bad the scum who hires these illegals can’t be sued personally, in addition to the company. Take the assets of a few and maybe they’d think twice. This looks as if done on purpose. Didn’t even flinch.

It’s crazy I have to go to court over failure to use a turn signal, but meanwhile that BR cop on OnPatrol Live told the immigrant family with no insurance “you tell your daddy ima let him go this time but he better go get insurance for this car”.

I've looked at that video a few times and it looked like the car didn't even attempt to brake and hit the side of that trailer full speed. Not that the car's driver did anything wrong, but it seems like he should have had enough time to at least apply his brakes-----not that it likely would have changed the end result.
What kills me is the driver, once he realized he had caused a horrific accident, didn't even look a bit concerned or upset he did that. It looks like he just stopped the truck and applied the air brakes.

I know I’m pretty late here, but this was the least shocking news I’ve heard in a while.
I work with a lot of California based carriers and they all employ a bunch of Indians who barely speak English. These guys can’t follow simple instructions let alone be trusted to drive massive trucks safely.
Funny enough, my company actually worked with the carrier involved. They are now on company wide do not use, but there are likely hundreds or even thousands more companies like this one breaking all kinds of rules.
