Made a 160 on the lsat, probably going to LSU but haven't applied yet because I'm only a junior. I'll pretty much do any law but id love to work with people convicted of DWI's i think that system is so tricked up and all about the money so I'd love to try to get people off.

K. Take the LSAT again. Maybe even try the Princeton Review class. Score in the mid to upper 160s. Go to LSU for free. If all you want to do is DWI defense, going to Southern isn't a bad idea.

I feel like the 160 will at least get me some money, they are struggling for people. I know a 1L who got in with a 153 and a 3.3

You'll get money maybe. You won't go for free. What's you GPA?
Again, if all you want to do is DWI defense, check into Southern and go pound pavement to talk to some DWI lawyers downtown to get an internship before going to law school. See if that's what you want to actually do. If you go to Southern, you'll probably go for free with a 160. LSU? Probably not. Given that you're thinking DWI defense, it may be difficult to scratch a living out for a while, so starting debt free will be important for you.

DWI. If they are not a drunk or regular offender, you can get them off with probationary type deal. They might pay you $500-$1000.
Most DWI's are by people who can't pay anything, so they court will appoint you for $60 an hour, or so.
The others are habitual offenders and can't pay either.
So, with office, staff, insurance, etc. etc. how are you going to make a living? They need to put this on the LSAT.

There are plenty of attorneys that make a good living on DWI defense, but they do it bulk, with their lackeys handling the grunt work. Same thing for traffic ticket attorneys. It is a difficult way to make a living.

It really depends where you practice. The smaller the venue, the more professional the attorneys and less stressful the practice. If you practice in Bunkie, the opposing counsel is likely to be related to you, be your landlord or be the incoming District Attorney. Even is you practice in New Orleans, your opposing counsel will be coaching your kid's soccer team the next day or seated next to you at a restaurant that evening. Practice in Houston, and you never need see that asshat again.

I wasn't saying it was exactly what I want to practice but it's something I'm pretty interested in and would be passionate about. More than likely though I'd just go where I get the best offer, and find my niche while in law school. GPA is 3.2 so I'm not getting a free ride anywhere and I'd go to loyola before going to southern

If you do better on the LSAT, you'll have the potential of getting a full ride to LSU. Take it one more time if you can stomach it. If there is one thing I regret, it is not retaking the LSAT. I got something like 8 points below my average practice test. If I had retaken it and scored the typical 3 or so points lower than my practice tests, I would have gone to Texas or some other similarly positioned school for damn near free and gotten a better job.
