Those old-timers are also the ones taking lunch at 10:55 and "flex time" at noon. I'm 46 years old but that shite rankles me. This isn't a Temple-Inland. We don't blow a whistle.

stay on this site for a few months. someone will make a thread about neighbors mowing their lawn at 7am on a saturday. most of the responses will be a bunch of try hards on here saying how they have been up sine 5am and once the sun is up start mowing

Our society views sleep deprivation as a badge of honor.

The only people who brag about what time they wake up are clockpunchers who have nothing else to talk about and contribute nothing more than the bare minimum required to keep their job and benefits.
If anyone brags about how early they woke up or how much earlier they got to work, I automatically assume they’re trying to overcompensate for maxing out their FMLA and vacation time and slacking off when actually present. It’s the battle cry of the “beleaguered working mom,” and the goldbricker who rides the clock.
Don’t forget to parade up and down the hallway with a random stack of papers under your arm looking pissed off so everyone will know how swamped you are before you leave for the Carnival cruise.

6:30am breakfast at the local diner is actually extremely peaceful.

Waking up before daylight is stupid. Schools start too early too.

Up at 430 during the week. I fricking hate waking up that early but I've been doing it for so long that I'm usually up by 5 even on the weekends. Only upside is I have a couple hours of peace on weekend mornings before my kids get up.

Retired. Got rid of alarm clock. Used to have to wake up for 2:40 on day shift. Distant memory now. Life’s good.

That pissed me off when I worked in govt. if you wanted to talk to an old timer between like 11 and 2, you pretty much had to be at lunch with them or wait outside the shitter door. In some departments, most of our work days really should’ve been knocked out by 3. But the old pros knew how to stretch and look busy until they hit the lobby at 4:55 to tick off the last few minutes on the slow walk to the elevator bay. But hey, they were punctual!

Yeah, my parents and other relatives talk about how they always wake up at 4:30AM. That's wild to me.
On weekdays, my alarm is set for 8AM in order to be in the office around 9. On weekends, I tend to wake up around the same time but it's not unheard of to sleep until 10 or so when I've had a long break or a late night.

Tongs don't work if you don't click them at minimum 3x before use. I've done the legwork.

When I worked in BR the absolute latest we went in was 4am, start times were usually 130a-4. Didn't love it but I got used to it, and now that I work cross country again I keep that as my schedule because it's kinda awesome to get 150-200 miles behind me before the rest of the world gets on the road in case if there's any delays, and getting in the truck stops before everyone else with the better parking spot makes my boxers wiggle. Even while I'm out on medical leave I still get up at/before 5.

If we're bragging, I wake up when my kid does. Which is like 2am usually

go to bed at 9p and wake at 0130 the last 27 years

All you have to do is read the daily GMT at 4:00 am SHARP. It’s the same losers every morning in their little circle jerk making sure everyone knows how awesome they are being awake before us losers.

Do you nap? Surviving on 4.5 hours of sleep a night is horribly unhealthy unless you're napping during the day.
