When the certain demographic is above 10% you start to notice things, as it gets larger you start to notice the problems, once it’s a problem it’s too late.
Being in the Capital City doesn’t help, the city and state should put buffer zones around campuses to favor only student wellbeing. No Section8 or other Real Residental Real Estate for no Student housing and Make it hard to get on campus, if you don’t belong here your not welcome here.DEI has ruined more than LSU but yes the campus is noticeably a hood now

I'm curious what it takes these days. Does a 2.5 GPA and a 22 ACT still do the trick?
If you’re a white kid from a middle class family you probably need a high school GPA of 3.0 and a 24 on the ACT to have any shot of getting in.
They’ll let a black kid in with no ACT score and a high GPA without blinking. Some of these “urban” public high schools have 70+% A rates which makes their GPAs completely irrelevant and why standardized testing is relevant.

I graduated in the mid ‘90s and have a freshman there this year. During move in and the couple of times his mother (no pics) and I have visited, I have been alarmed.
If I had known how bad it has become, I would have insisted he go elsewhere.

My point is the LK will not want his kids (regardless of age) exposed to the LSU environment and definitely won't want his 15 y/o son exposed.
IMO any daughter younger than 25 still needs Dad to draw and defend some boundaries. Most 25 y/o female are still caught up in the youth segment of society.
Just my opinion. Let's just say that BR is no longer a selling point.

Only 47% of the incoming 2024 fall freshman class submitted an ACT or SAT score for admission and for scholarships. It’s voluntary.

Reading through this thread, and lsu sounds like a shithole. People clown on A&M and its culture, but I’ll take that everyday over what I’m reading in here.

Have you not been to campus lately?

“Did I just get “lucky””
We are talking two different topics…lsu campus as a student .. everyday life…
And tailgating….many of the videos circulating are tailgating .. we had a shift where non students began coming into campus to party with others( student friends)…some students acting badly… and a foot migration of non students coming to party just off campus at a know restaurant area..
The tailgate problems were absolutely addressed for the am game and the state-city-lsu law enforcement efforts were extremely good.. they completely addressed the problem and additionally determined some root causes and handled them one on one..hopefully they keep up the efforts .. I certainly appreciated them.

My son attends Auburn, and during our visit for registration, I was stunned by how clean, well-kept, and no ghetto the campus and community are.

Its 20% black now. My freshman year it was only 9%.
It's not just a 11% increase. It's a 200% trashy people increase.
Students went from looking like Carlton to looking like Lil Wayne.
Sweatpants and slides is the new school uniform.

well you do realize his daughter is/was romantically linked to an LSU football player? Seems to me if the relationship grows, she will be spending some time with the boy at LSU. OR do you think daddy should tell his adult daughter she cannot date the football player?

I think the race of the student is corollary to getting the money. LSU has become so greedy for tuition dollars that they would probably allow inmates to enroll full time if it meant they could get the tuition dollars. And if those dollars are funded via government loans or grants, all the better as it makes LSU a valuable link in the educational/industrial complex's role to make as many people indebted to the government via college tuition as possible.
This entire strategy of trying to get every kid to go to college, regardless of aptitude or ability (scholastically or financially) cannot be altruistic or benevolent. There has to be a financial grift to it.

Gainesville is closer to BR than it is to Oxford

Your sense of superiority is based on LSU, BR, and the state having to react to how ghetto the game day at LSU was becoming.
Well the low IQ idiot you replied to is a progressive, so he has to toe the line, otherwise the results of his voting habits would have to be discussed. You know what progressives do when you start to question the results of their policies....

I agree that it is more about the dollar than the color, but they could have applied a similar strategy without the browning of the student population.
And higher ed will only become more desperate for those dollars as fewer and fewer high school students apply.
Between a dwindling population and AI, higher will be unrecognizable in 10 years.

Holy shite.

There were no admissions requirements at all at LSU until the late 80’s.
Last i saw LSU demographics roughly match those of the state as a whole, which i think is fair considering the mission of LSU is to educate the citizens of Louisiana.
gen z kids vaping and wearing pj’s to class is not a sign of anything
north gate has been sketchy for decades
It’s not much different than it ever has been. People imaging that LSU was Yale 20-30 years ago are drugged by nostalgia.

My son is at Bama. Having visited several times, I can say the difference compared to LSU is night & day. I've been called an LSU hater, even though I'm a graduate and I love the school, but anyone who denies the changes are part of the blindfold community. If my son ever decided he no longer want to go to Bama, I would encourage him to enroll at SLU or La Tech.
