Friend of mine just got out after nearly 10 years on the force in a pretty big town (~100k residents).
He was one of those kids who grew up dreaming of being an LEO, but the political climate of the last 6 years made the job a nightmare. As he said, he became a cop at the exact worst time in American history to be a cop, and he mentioned some of these movements - whether they mean to or not - and the way the media portrays law enforcement has emboldened actual criminals to act out and escalate these situations.
