Did that influence your decision to move to Alaska?

Why did you strap your mask to your leg?

It’s so damn hot, the early bird had to use an oven mitt to get the worm this morning.

New Orleans I-10 to Houston
Houston I-45 to DFW
DFW I-30 to Memphis via I-40
Memphis I-55 to New Orleans
This is the dogshit humidity quadrilateral.

Eh, you get used to it. I went to LSU in the late 80s and lived in South Stadium and Pentagon dorms while I was a student. No A/C in either one, just a ceiling fan and a box fan I got at Walmart. The first two or three nights of every fall semester sucked, but you got used to it eventually and learned to just let the heat flow through you rather than fight it.

frick that.
You must not have gone through Gustav in BR. At least Katrina you had to evacuate or you got a trailer when you could come back. But you can not get used to 7+ days of no a/c in south Louisiana August

I would imagine there is a withdrawal period for cutting it cold turkey
I worked in Costa Rica for 6months a couple years back and the house I lived in didn't have AC. The first 2 nights were torture with night sweats and no sleep. Had to sleep naked under the fan in living room with no covers to get a nights rest the first week. By week 3 I had gotten used to it and my body quit sweating and I moved back to bedroom. Some point during 2nd month I started using a sheet as a cover and my body acclimated to where it fell cool at night.

Who the hell would have ever thought that would happen?

I'm now 67 and didn't have an A/C in any house I lived in until I was 25. I was married by then and the wife was pregnant and told me if I didn't get an A/C, she was going back home to have the baby. I got one in May of 78 for the first in that house I grew up in and eventually bought in my early 20's.
Oh, and yes, I was living in N.O. at the time.

with the heat, your joints don't hurt like with the cold.
After graduation, I moved to Dallas, and everyone remarked how well I could handle the heat (it was the low humidity).
