That's possible, but a decades-old marriage and trying to woo your 22 year old girlfriend aren't the same, I'm guessing.
Sure there are differences, but they both involve women. IMO a lot of these issues with wives are exactly because some men decide to treat wives differently.

There is no such thing. It's a fantasy created by the media and marketeers.

Exactly, he can try to save the marriage all he wants but if it isnt reciprocated then whats the point?
You just make yourself miserable for the rest of your life.

sounds fine on paper, but what if his wife is 100% done?
how much groveling should one do for someone that has completely checked out of a relationship?

Yeah, if the last 25 years are wrapped up in that chick and our huge family together, I'm not going to be eager to get back out there and live it up with my pride intact. But that's because I'm an adult.
Granted, he may be forced to do that, and he may ultimately find that is one of the ways to deal with it, but it wouldn't be my first choice.

I mean all of this shite takes objectivity, which most people don't do well. Is she 100% done? If so, is it because of her or you? Could you have made that choice harder for her? Can you still?
