North Florida sucks. I lived in Jacksonville for a few months and hated it.

Then we moved to West Palm and have been here for 18 years. Established roots and we love it here.

I'll take living a little over an hour from Destin and day over living 10 minutes from St. Augustine.

I lived on the beach in Ormond Beach. Loved it. I hate most of the panhandle.

I'm a Louisiana native who would never move back.

had a condo there years ago(Ormond-by-the-Sea,) nice little town back then, I'm sure it's changed a bit(Dale Earnhardt Sr.,) used to rent it from me for a week or two at a time for several years when he would come to Daytona

There are plenty of "stay away" or shite hole places here but it's the same in Louisiana, Miss., Michigan, Jersey, Alabama, etc. Shouldn't paint any state or town with a broad brush. You'll adjust and start to recognize the positives. It's OK to be homesick because you've grown or moved out of your comfort level. I would say expected as well. Just don't be the folks that are homesick and start romanticizing their old "home" state/city. You will hear a bunch of: " Back in the city we did blah blah", "Back home the purples and blues were prettier", "back home we didn't do it like that." When it comes down to brass tacks, their old hometowns/states weren't as perfect as they are making it. After all, if it was, they'd still live there.

I lived in Ormond-by-the-Sea.

Still a nice, clean, quiet beach town, outside of Bike Week and Biketoberfest. (Well, it was 2 years ago when I was there.)

There's nothing like that ocean breeze at night time.

There's nothing wrong with Florida if you know the right people.

Of course it's better if you are the right people.

I enjoyed that place, it was quiet enough at night o hear that breeze and the waves, there was a cool little shite hole bar just as you were leaving Ormond heading north on A1A that I used to hang out at for happy hour, and a couple of cool little hole in the wall seafood places in Flagler that I used to eat lunch at, and a great pizza place in Ormond b-t-s
