Back in my younger years, had a bus driver that would give each kid on our bus a little Christmas card thing with a two dollar bill in it. I know that dude didn't make a lot of money, and for him to do that many years in a row....was a good dude. Thinking back, it makes me wish I'd given something in return....but I'm sure the gift he really wanted was for each of us to think this sort of thought now....be thankful and pay it forward kind of thing. Merry Christmas everyone!

i agree, thats very kind of that man. he probably didn't get a lot of gratitude from the kids for it either

Actually, he was one of those people that just had a way with kids and was never mean or very commanding...I'm not really sure how he did it, but he was one of those guys that everyone respected and listened to.

Made a stop at a McDonald's on a road trip thru Tennessee not long ago. Handed the cashier a $50 and jokingly told her, "I try to not to keep these in my wallet, don’t care for the guy who’s on them.”

She took it, glanced at the name and said who is Grant? I said, “You know the President…that GRANT… um... the Civil War ??…

She waved her hand dismissively and said, “I was never good at history in school. I’m good at math." Continued rather proudly, "That’s why I am here."

There was a lady in front of me at the bank getting $2 bills as gifts. I overheard the teller say that they usually have a small stash for people that come in asking for them.

Yeah, 50's are pretty unusual. See either 20's or 100's. Also people don't deal with cash much at all anymore.

I don’t conduct business with people who pass Yankee bills.

My kids wouldn’t know what anything under a $100 bill looks like. We only take out hundreds and if we ever have to break them then we use the bills we get back for the fireplace

I work in Hope, AR. The local credit Union here dispenses all of their money in 50's by default unless asked not to. It's weird.
