Nope.

Is anyone forcing you to look at it?

If you brought me to church, I'd need an iPad too, and I'm almost 24.

I"m 30 and the only church i've been going to is for weddings, and i can't make it through without looking at my phone. And i'm someone who rarely ever does anything on their phone except talk on it for work.

The thought of bringing my 3 year old and 1 year old to church is just stupid, beyond the fact that i personally don't want to go. The few times we have gone, all we're doing is trying to make sure they are quiet the whole time, which gives you very little time to pay attention, so what's the point of going.

I would say the point of going, at least in my home town, is to show that you go to church and that you have children so you want others to know you go to church and you have adorable children and people won't judge you for not going.

If an adult is so distracted by a nearby iPad in church that they can't pay attention, I think they are the problem

If their concentration on an iPad trumps their concentration on The Lord, then those people have bigger problems.

My wife and I both have a Bible app on our phones as well as most everyone else in the service. Sometimes our kids want to stay with us instead of going to children church, I'm not going to make my kids do something they dont want to do. So when they come with us in the service, my daughter will either color or play on her I-pad....my son with play on his Ipod-Touch....as long as they are quiet, keep still and dont ask every 5 min "when it going to be over", then I dont see what the big deal is.

A church has multiple services but no child's service? I'm not buying that. Maybe y'all need to find a better church. Or take your fricking ADD meds before you go. Sounds like the three year old is keeping his shite together better than you.

I don't think anyone will disagree with this.

How bout this? Go sit in the cry room where the child can be a child and not disturb others? Or better yet, leave the child at home. Hes obviously too young to pay attention, so hes likely not getting anything out of the experience. Churches offer multiple services on the Sabbath. Mom goes to one, dad to the other. kid can stay home. everyone is happy, no?

You're a Christian, right? How about what Christ taught us in Matthew 19?

quote:

13 Then people brought little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them and pray for them. But the disciples rebuked them.

14 Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”

Catholic churches do not have separate "childrens services", they do usually have a cry room in the church for parents with young kids so they don't disturb others

It's fine for little kids. Once they start school the distractions should be weaned away. By second grade, they shouldn't need anything.

If I have to go sit in a cry room with my child, what's the fricking point of even going to church?

So if I ever go to church, bring lots of big league chew and all my electronics devices?

I agree. Not that I go to church because I'm a heathen, but if my stepdaughter attempted to pull her phone out in church I'd slap her in the face right there in the pew for God and everyone to see.

Some churches are trying it. I feel like it is in beta testing mode.

I'm pretty sure your spot is already waiting on you. No need to rub it in.

I don't have kids.

But I can tell you what my parents did with me and both of my sisters. If you don't sit still and shut the hell up, you're going to get an arse beating.

Very rarely, if ever, did we misbehave in church.
