My grandson made a visit to both campuses before making his final decision. He scored 35 on his ACT. He chose Tech. After seeing photos of the freshman classes on the first day of both campusses, I feel he made a wise decison.

I hope Griff's is still around. Watching my room mate vomit up the Griff's triple meal deal he ate 3 hours before a PT test was awesome.
Ruston also has the advantage of being way too far from New Orleans. "Exotic" destinations are Funroe and Shreveport.

LSU should post billboards with Mike giving their bulldog a wedgie.
Or in light of our newest enrollees, a bandana tied around the head wearing, sideways gat holding, Mike with sunglasses on and a joint hanging out of his mouth.

Dallas and Baton Rouge are about the same distance from Ruston....NOLA is just 1 extra hour.

With that, he automatically gets the Presidential scholarship. He chose wisely. It will cost him absolutely nothing to go there, room and board included.
Good for him, my kid’s at Tech and could not be happier. I’m not here to argue academics like all the others, but Tech has a much less “culturally diverse” student body. And my kid is happy about that.

But do they have street fights on campus?

I would be sold on this alone .

The two hood rats fighting in the street this week is all the evidence anyone needed. The billboards are just an exclamation point

Tech is definitely a better engineering school
Which programs? EE? ME? ChE?
And based on what? Job prospects? Actual capabilities of new grads? Research? Some random rankings?
I find these kind of statements a little silly. For a prospective student, what matters most are:
- Job prospects (companies who recruit at the school, average salaries, etc.)
- Quality of the actual education
Both will vary considerably depending on the degree program, choice of industry, etc. and it’s pretty hard to know either unless you’ve actually attended both schools or been directly involved in hiring/recruiting from both schools. The reality is that both have respectable engineering schools, but neither is some sort of elite top-10 university nationally.
Saying Tech is “definitely a better engineering school” is a stretch, at best.

Yea I agree. Maybe for some certain programs but to say engineering as a whole is a stretch.
