I've lived in both cities. Recently moved back to Laf. I didn't realize how much I missed everything mentioned in this thread until then.
LSU is the only thing BR has going for it.

As long as I've been living here I haven't gone there yet, but keep hearing that the food is great. I've been hearing great things about Hook N Boil lately also. They just opened, but are in a city right outside of Lafayette.
I was about to give you more suggestions, but I forgot that you mentioned a GF.
Any single guys around my age in here? Time to pick up some of Lafayette finest!

Went to hook and boil last weekend. No crawfish, crabs, or shrimp. Was jonesing for some boiled seafood. Looked like a great place. Staff was very nice. Will go back

Nobody has mentioned Blue Moon Saloon for live music. But I am old and don't know what appeals to the young'uns.
