O Holy Night deserves mention here.

Again, what is wrong with O Holy Night?
It's a lovely song with an almost aria-esque quality

Walking in a Winter Wonderland:
Who tf is Parson Brown? It’s not normal to build a snowman and pretend that it’s someone you know. And then you’ll tell this pretend person you know that he can officiate your wedding whenever the real person comes to your town again. Very odd behavior.
quote:
In the meadow we can build a snowman, Then pretend that he is Parson Brown He'll say: Are you married? We'll say: No man, But you can do the job When you're in town.

I’ve loved this song my whole life, but I realize now how questioning the lyrics are. Just found this version-a little Emerson Lake and Palmer, a little Jethro Tull.
It’s most definitely not a song celebrating the traditional customs of Christmas. But I love it because of that. This is the first time I’ve seen this version. It’s a little jarring seeing Greg Lake sing about his disbelief of Christmas in a soaring church with the church choir and introduced by the Priest.

Another non-traditional Christmas song that is on my rotation:
Christmas at Denny’s by Randy Stonehill
It’s a downer for sure and doesn’t have the usual uplifting end common in so many Christmas songs/stories.

Also, I realized this year that the original Frosty song has nothing to do with Christmas. It could fit in with a list of winter songs that only get sung at Christmas time; Jingle Bells, Winter Wonderland, etc.
In 1854 Chicago 12 people died in a dispute over “Let it Snow” being sung by a children’s choir at a Christmas recital.

Little Drummer Boy
long story short:
"I'm too poor to bring Baby Jesus anything so here I come with a snare drum playing the same note over and over." Yes, newborn Baby Jesus and the rest of his family and animals really appreciated that. The snare wasn't invited for more than another thousand years later.

"Do you hear what I hear" is not the best song to lead-off with in a performance for schizophrenics.

“I want a hippopotamus for Christmas” is an insanely stupid song.

I like how many people just said which Christmas songs they like. Kinda like they underanyzed. It’s all good. It’s the holiday season.

My favorite Trans Siberian Orchestra song ( with lyrics) is What Child Is This?
Some lyrics include
Does this mean born again?
Then repeated many times is
Ugh. I never can figure out lyrics and their intended meanings.
Nonetheless, here is a wonderful live version of the song recently recorded in Birmingham

Yats eating crawfish on Christmas is why we pay $7 a pound for Mardi Gras.

Yeah makes not as interesting a thread as I hoped. Hope it would’ve been like the over analyzing Home Alone thread on the MTV board

It's definitely a good one. There are a couple trailers on Youtube that are related but don't really follow the story line completely. Those are fun little snippets too.
Glad you enjoyed it.

True.
Also, who is King Wenceslas and why does Steven get a Feast?
