I'd have some type of report made to fall back on, you never know in this day and age.

Did anyone say to call the cops to come kill the dog? Just don't mention you have a dog to them

His gf shouldn't have to pay the medical bills though for this. If she went to the ER....that right there will be a couple thousand(assuming she doesn't have insurance). Neighbor's homeowner's policy should cover those expenses.

No need to try and sue for other money or try and get neighbor's dog put down....just make sure her medical bills are covered.

A broken finger on your female SO by something other than you and not worry about it? Yeah, right.

Take you dog to the vet then make sure they pay the vet and hospital bills with their homeowners. If not then seek out an attorney.

I am not into suing anyone for no reason, but they should be held responsible in this case.

good thing is she has insurance...so she just had to pay a $50 copay, but bad thing is she has to go to a Orthopedic doctor tomorrow so he can make sure that her finger is ok...

She is the type of person (like me) that doesn't want to get the neighbors involved until it is absolutely necessary...

This is my opinion, but my gf doesn't like the idea

If you have insurance just make the neighbors pay whatever it is going to cost you. Same with your dog. If they don't then call your lawyer

Nice thought, but having some paper work that you never have occasion to use is always nice.

FYI it's going to be harder to prove anything or get any sympathy going forward without a police report today. If you don't do something today, then you will just look like someone trying to cash in later if you have to sue.

Yeah I know, just think of trying to do something like that in a normal situation, except with a hydrocodone high gf, who insist that we just see how things play out

Also she thinks that I care more about my dog than her

I would be the same way and would find it awkward to ask them to pay.

But...it was the fault of their dog that your dog and gf are injured now. Like you said...they are gonna want to watch that fracture carefully due to it being from a bite. They will want to make sure it doesn't cause infection of the bone or surrounding tissues.

Like someone else just posted...take your dog to vet. Have them pay your vet bill and any costs not covered by your gf's insurance. They can choose to pay that out of pocket if they don't want a claim on their homeowner's or they can contact their insurance and have them pay. It's the right thing for them to do. If my dog had done that it would be what I would insist on doing as well for my neighbor.

The only bad thing is that if you do call the police, the neighbor is going to be down one dog. I hate seeing dogs put down...unless it's a pit of course.

When your health insurance finds out it was a dog bite they will go after your neighbor anyway
