*She posted a pic in another thread, then later came to her senses and deleted. She has teeth.

I'm shocked at the varied but legitimate answers/responses I've gotten.

I am not shocked that when a woman waded in she was fired upon and had pics apparently.

I've got to try and force myself to do one thing per day. Golf, gym, guitar lesson online, something. I've always been a guy who has a tough time relaxing. Perhaps it's why beer and I are so in love. I just want to be able to without beer. It happens but it is rare.

I have a great wife who tolerates me grabbing a beer occasionally on my way home, but then I feel guilty. Why don't I want to be home. Or more like why do I want to make a stop before home. It's a strange feeling being bored with a family and a career, but it happens I guess.

I had this same thought this morning. I'm a year older than you.

There really is nothing you can do about it, because time perception is absolute. For example, if you were five years old, a year would represent 20% of your life. So that would seem like a long time, and you could probably recall everything about that year.

As a 45 year old, a year represents just 1/45th of your life. It's nothing to you. A blink. A flash. This is the way your brain perceives time as you age.

Think about when you were a kid and you couldn't wait for Christmas. The year just fricking draaaaaggggggged on. What about now? It seems like Christmas just passed, and you're already thinking about what to gifts to buy next. I told my Dad the other day that I feel like we should only celebrate Christmas every two years. It feels too close together these days. Imagine what it's like for him, at over 70 years old!

I suppose the only thing we can do is make sure our days seem productive, so that we have something to show for our time. For me, that means carving out two hours a day, no matter what, to write. The one advantage we old people have is when tackling big projects, they seem to go quickly. I recently finished my master's degree, for instance. 18 months. And it felt like 18 days. Fastest 18 months of my life, and there it is... master's degree on the wall. Flip the script and use your perception of time to your advantage.

Plant a garden.
Spend time with your kids.
Kill a good buck with a bow.
Master the fly rod.
Officiate youth sports.
Plan the trip/adventure you've always dreamed of.

Many young eyes are looking to you and how you live your life. Give them a good example.
Whatever you do, don't quit. Don't ever quit. Embrace your grind every day.

It sounds like you don't have much spirituality. If you have a relationship with God you will realize that this life on earth is meant to be short. There's nothing people can do to prevent things like death or old age, no money can buy you more time on earth. You have to suffer and experience trials to really grow in faith and truly believe that God really will have us live forever with Him. Until you find God you will never have peace in your heart and you will always be searching for Him.

(sorry I never post here but my husband sent me this thread and I felt like I had to respond)

I knew this thread could get religious and it has. And gone into alternate religions, so to speak.

Church is a process for me. Always has been. I am near agnostic. That is not to bash you or religion per say. The opposite. I appreciate your post. I feel like I am going through the motions when religion is concerned.

I went home last night after this thread and was tired. Lather, rinse, repeat. I need to get away I guess take a trip. Short one, but I don't know? How do you even bring that up? Wife and son, "frick y'all. Daddy needs to go 'find his spark'".?

I believe I robbed that from City Slickers. But to ask such a thing seems like a dick move on about 10 levels.
