Yeah, I've gone every weekend for the past couple months. If they are operating at 50%, I'd be shocked. Its pretty much anything goes, which is fine by me.

American Bar Association

quote:

Under the U.S. Constitution’s 10th Amendment and U.S. Supreme Court decisions over nearly 200 years, state governments have the primary authority to control the spread of dangerous diseases within their jurisdictions. The 10th Amendment, which gives states all powers not specifically given to the federal government, allows them the authority to take public health emergency actions, such as setting quarantines and business restrictions.
With states adopting emergency measures, there are several broad public health tools that governors can invoke. They can, for example, order quarantines to separate and restrict the movement of people who were exposed to a contagious disease to see if they become sick. They can also direct that those who are sick with a quarantinable communicable disease be isolated from people who are not sick. And, as a growing number of governors have done in recent days, states can order residents to stay at home with exceptions for essential work, food or other needs. The governors’ orders, akin to shelter-in-place directives, affect tens of millions in the affected states. Curfews are another tool they can impose.

That was said after his first election.

The same exact shite happened the second time.

I don't have high hopes for next time.

I went to a few of Rispone’s luncheons and they were pathetic. LA GOP better step it up and quit letting interns run elections

They don't have anybody.

They are trying to avoid anyone with close ties to Jindal, which I can understand, but that eliminates most of the higher up members in the organization.

There needs to be a younger candidate with the credentials and no ties to Jindal, and doesn't come across as a sleaze or a hack.

Who you got?

Maybe Graves, but is he willing to leave Congress right now?

They still believe in the collective rights interpretation of the 2nd Amendment too. They are wrong about that and they are wrong about the scope of what a State can do here too. What some of you fail to under stand, and what the AG has basically stated, is that if a lawsuit is brought then the State could possibly lose. I suspect JBE, chickenshit that he is, would remove his order in the face of a legal challenge and he's hedged that by making the order with such a short suspense. If any of you are under the delusion that a poorly enforced mask order over 10 days is about really about public health then you are truly a moron. Local businesses in Bossier have posted signs but not a single one I went to today stopped anyone without a mask from coming in. Not even all the employees wore masks.

Knowing you don’t like Merchant just made it my favorite joint in town. Great food. Good service. You hate it. Letting customers make adult decisions on masks. Gonna go drop a 5 star review right now baw. Thanks!

If Merchant sees this. That “Better Fried Chicken Sandwich” I had there last Fall. Straight fiyah! Kudos to the cooking staff for some of the best food in BR

‘08 - why did me and you have beef a couple weeks back? Just seems unlikely as I agree with 90% of your posts.

No, halfwit, it doesn't.

quote:

[I]t might be that an acknowledged power of a local community to protect itself against an
epidemic threatening the safety of all, might be exercised in particular circumstances and in
reference to particular persons in such an arbitrary, unreasonable manner, or might go so far
beyond what was reasonably required for the safety of the public, as to authorize or compel
the courts to interfere for the protection of such persons.

Maybe if your tiny brain could do more than 1st page Google results, you'd understand the nuance here. This is from Jacobsen v. Massachusetts and it emphatically states there are limits upon what measures the states can pass. "Reasonably required" gives a hell of a lot of leeway for courts to rule against any state or locality's government imposing mask mandates and that doesn't even get into far more cases touching on the due process aspects in play here.

That case was about requiring that everybody gets a vaccine.

Are you trying to argue that requiring a vaccine is less intrusive and overreaching than requiring someone wear a mask in indoor public places?
