Many years ago when I was in college working at a Sears, you'd be surprised what people would try to do. This one time this guy stole a Craftsman tool suitcase and then went to another Sears store to "return" it for a refund. It didn't end the way he wanted it to.
Don't be surprised if those thieves were trying the same thing or pawn it off at local pawn store.
