Numbers continue to be listed in the thread but it's unclear if this is for a semester or a year? In-state or OOS? How does these compare with peer institutions?
College is without a doubt the greatest investment I have had in my life. College could cost $300K (for example...I haven't ever analyzed what the 'break-even' might be) for a degree and it would still be worth it.
I just finished paying more than $100K for a graduate degree out of pocket and it's a rounding error over lifetime earnings if I use the degree as it is intended (to enhance my career opportunities).

Counting TOPs....how does the remaining balance of the semester fee bill compare to the cost of the football season tickets and parking passes the parents probably get every year?

I think you add another $6500+ for an out of state student.
That being said, still a bargain compared to the UC and Cal State systems. I would compare LSU favorably to the Cal State system in terms of academics and to some of the UC schools (obviously not UCLA, Berkeley, San Diego, Davis).

LSU instate (sans TOPS) is comparable to the Cal State system. Sac State, Fresno State, etc. will cost about $6-7k instate, or $16-20k out of state.

That is still a good price when compared to other flagship universities in the south.
That doesn’t make it better.
