Woobie, i am very pedestrian compared to the ot as a whole. I'm old, don't make much money, don't do drugs except alcohol, and don't cheat on my wife...whom I love very much.
I'm sure this crushes some fantasies that all of the chicks and most of the guys have...

As a retired professional bartender of some 40 years and a confirmed alcoholic for longer than that, I would surmise that the extra $1.50 itemized as on rocks actually denotes a drink like yours that requires a 1/2 Oz larger "cocktail shot" than the standard 1.25 Oz poured for highball like bourbon/Coke or scotch/ water
Regardless of whether they are served on rocks , up (chilled and strained) or neat (no ice room temp)
Examples would be martinis, old fashioned, Manhattan served up or on rocks or B&B
,brandies, cognac etc served neat, usually in a snifter.

Thanks for the complement my friend, but under the current anti alcohol PC climate, they have taken all the fun out of the experience no matter which side of the bar you stand/sit/fall.
