1st was 400+ at church and reception hall.
2nd was 25 on an island.

I'd do the second every time. Screw wasting all that money on a party that lasts 3 hours.

And would you have changed anything?

The fiance' (No pics) and I can't decide between a 300+ attendee wedding here at home or a small get-a-way wedding with 20-30 people. What did you do?

Just go ahead and do it the way she wants.

get-a-way wedding

Got married in Hawai'i with our closest friends and family. Had about 45 heads there. Was a 2 and a half week shitshow.

The day is not about you! It's about her so your opinion doesn't matter. She's the one who has dreamed about a wedding day her whole life. Get away from it, drink beer with the buddies and tell her to let you know where to be and what time to be there!

That was cool that he offered though. Some parents get a lil too controlling in the wedding planning process and think that since they may be paying part of it...they can control and have the wedding THEY want...and not necessarily what the bride and groom want.

Seen some of my friends go through that drama when they got married. One of my gfs very stressed cause she didn't want to upset her mom in the whole process but didn't like what her mom wanted for the wedding. We weren't fortunate enough to have parents help out, but one upside was not having to worry about them pulling rank in the planning process because of it.

I'd say my wedding will cost about 1/10th of what my brothers was. Well over $40,000 for theirs

What a joke

That really isn't that high in the wedding industry though.

They say 25K is the national average. Hell I thought I was going pretty cheap with my small wedding and that still cost us 13-14K total.

What I did and wouldn't change it. I called my Dad to tell him and he just said "Are you drunk?" and my Mom said "It is about time, have fun"

The wife doesn't talk to her mom very much so that helped in the deciding process too.

Of course we were together 7 years before we decided to, so was pretty much just signing some papers and then go get drunk.

Eloping works for a lot of people too. A lot of people feel pressured on their wedding day to make their rounds at the reception to thank everyone and take pictures. To the bride and groom, their wedding day becomes more about entertaining their guests than focusing on their holy matrimony.

How many would there have been if you had to pay for the whole thing yourself?

Destination beach wedding.

One hundred people showed, invited two-fifty -- it was perfect.
