I had a lot of say in our wedding.

I'm not a mongoloid though so my wife usually asks for my opinion on decorations and stuff like that

and other things too, like my wife's family was pushing a "money dance" pretty hard and I shut that shite down with the quickness

went to the courthouse and paid whatever it cost for the judge to marry us. The only people there were our parents. Took a nice trip to Belize for the honeymoon instead of having a wedding ceremony etc. It was perfect for us and would do it the exact same way if I had to do it over again.

I would think most guys are like me and couldn't give two shits about what's hanging on the wall or about wedding details but maybe I'm wrong

Not married.

Count me in on hating the cliches too.

Also, why is it cool to hate your wife? Some of the men I work with say shite about their wives I wouldn't say about my worst enemy.

*ring ring*
"Great, the old count bitch is calling"

ETA: I also wouldn't want to marry someone who didn't give a single shite about the wedding. I understand not caring about some stuff, but having no desire to be a part of it at all? Gross.

There's a difference between not giving a shite and saying the woman doesn't allow the man an opinion.

Right about 100 people... over half family, but plenty of good friends too.

their second idea was even worse

they then wanted to "pass a hat around so people could just put money in"

they basically wanted us to get somebody to walk around with a fricking hat and beg for money

just

+300...way too much. Never got to sit down and eat because we were walking around and talking to everyone. Guess we didn't have to talk to everyone, but we're nice people.

If we had it to do over again, we would do a destination wedding. Which is what I originally wanted to do, but the wife won. Although she now agrees with me.

That's pretty funny.

I hate the majority of wedding reception traditions.

The frick?

They probably all bought a gift or gave you a check anyway, why ask for more?

I don't remember the details of your wedding, but I know at mine that would be super out of place. We spent almost $30k, and then asking for money ...

Walk up to the bride/groom and slow dance with them and also give them some cash.

Not much of a difference, I just stood back and let her and her mom have fun

My only opinions were booze and band

I'm not big on money dances either. I imagine that would get quite the response on a "is it trashy?" thread,

I'd be OK with just doing a "money dance" with one of her bridesmaids
