Personally, I don't see what the big deal is. As a white person in the south, the confederacy is as much a part of my life as it is the average black persons....it isn't. At all. Who cares about some statue?

Wait there's nobody stupid enough out there to believe this right? It's $600,000 to remove the statues. Then you have to pay to transport, store, and then reconstruct something in its place. You also have police overtime and the hours and hours of politicians time that they spent on this. This is going to cost well over $1,000,000 and it will be taxpayer money, that I can promise you.

The Jews were slaves for a lot longer than the African Americans and way before so, before these offensive statues come down shouldn't the roman colosseum and pyramid's be taken down first?

I agree it is dumb but if the whole topic is going to center around slavery then why not include the very first slaves of the world, the Jews? Don't they count? Just one group can't be include or have history re-written for them. Let's include them all.
