re: Monroe v. Lafayette

I grew up in Monroe and am a ULM grad. As previously posted in this thread, I left Monroe after college and only go back a few times a year to see family and some friends while visiting.
I can say without a shadow of a doubt that the current economic state of Lafayette is 20 years ahead of Monroe's in every possible fashion. Lafayette has expanding business with new companies coming in droves. Monroe has nothig to offer a young professional that didn't grow up there besides CenturyLink.
Monroe streets still look like the early 90's to me. The Sonic on DeSiard was replaced by a new Sonic in 1994. The old building still stands to this day. Crime is worse and worse each day and people are moving out of the city limits in droves, which is the exact opposite of what is occurring in Lafayette. The best times of my childhood were spent in NELA, but it is a shell of what it once was, IMO. From the mayor to the fire chief to the police chief to the entire circus that is the Monroe City School Board, Lafayette and Monroe are on complete opposite ends of the spectrum in 2014.

laffy is better in every way unless we're comparing the vermilion and Ouachita, but you're all wrong about the food, best restaurant in Lafayette is maizen. And the petrol club still sucks

Mazen's isn't bad but there's probably a dozen places I'd prefer in town

If you live in the Monroe area you are much closer to the best duck hunting and deer hunting in the state (Madison and Tensas Parish). Neville, West Monroe, and OCS all dominate in football and are great schools to go to.Fresh water fishing is great in the rivers, lakes, bayous, etc. Other than that Lafayette wins.

You hear that 4LSU2, you white boot wearing Benedict Arnold. No mention of East Side high in the great school discussion. No wonder you're so bitter.

Hayden probably took Joe's girl back in the day.
We didn't have these kind of stupid names back in the day. lol
And no, Hayden didn't take my woman. I've had a couple of good high school friends that became Haydens, 2 are dead.

Auburn grad here, moved to Lafayette about 3 years ago. Was thinking this would be a Bamer free zone but sadly I have run into more Bamers than Aubs. At least some of the Bamers in Lafayette actually went to and graduated from Alabama.

Lots of little short south la little man syndrome white rubber boots wearing people in this thread.
I should mention Monroe has most popular family in Louisiana as residents.

You can all you want it's free for me
Its always been free for me when I've been as well. The atmosphere of hanging out with 80-90 year olds on a Friday night kinda sucks but the food has always been good to me

Basically 99 percent of our clients are members of petro club so when we ask where do want to go eat it's always there. I really don't mind it at all

Prob, but Phil could pay somebody to fight for him.
So Phil wins.
So Phil wins.

Troy had more money than Phil does now before either show was on TV
