Generally speaking, not good for the defense. It only happens in their favor that fast when it is extremely obvious
Jury will find them guilty of something and just wants to go home, that is usually the case in this instance
There was no way this jury was taking it to next week

If found guilty, I think the prosecution has to move for immediate remand.

My understanding is that is the case, and Vitter will certainly grant that

Personal injury attorneys Jason Giles and Vanessa Motta were found guilty Friday on all counts in a blockbuster trial accusing them of a brazen fraud scheme involving hundreds of pre-planned collisions with 18-wheelers and filing lawsuits for scores of bogus injury claims. Giles and Motta were both found guilty of conspiracy to commit mail fraud, multiple counts of mail fraud, witness tampering and more. Each of their law firms were found guilty as well.

He was a law clerk at my firm in his (and my) youth. He was…different.

What kind of sentencing these thugs in suits are looking at?
Posted on 3/20/26 at 2:56 pm to danilo
10-15 years minimum I believe…

Giles faces was convicted on one count conspiracy to commit wire fraud, two counts of mail fraud, five counts of obstruction of justice, and six counts of witness tampering. His firm was also convicted of the same charges.

Is Vitter known as a judge who gives maximum sentences?

the feds will ask for a specific sentencing range as a recommendation. Seems unlikely due to the number of counts that she would go below that. Not to mention there was a murder as a direct result of this whole affair.
Typically there is restitution ordered in cases of mail/wire fraud so that will be something to consider also
Alfortish is going to be quickly convicted and likely to get life

Wait, you mean that the jury didn't by her defense that she was just a poor little young attorney that didn't know staging accidents was fraud?

Vitter might be the most conservative judge on the EDLA bench. She will likely give them close to the max.
