I remember how proud I was whenever my son got into LSU Shreveport. It's been almost 2.5 years now and I'll tell you it's very demanding. You wont see or hear from him for months at a time. Hope he is successful and tell him to start studying for Step 1 early as my son says the MCAT was nothing compared to that test which can stop your medical career.

Congratulations to him and to you. We are blessed to have young people like him willing to serve their fellow man

Congrats, Delta Tiger. My son is in his 3rd year of residency in IM. I was hoping he’d go into practice but now he wants to do a fellowship. 3 more years!
One of my proudest days was when he graduated from Med School.

A fellowship is a good idea. Which one?

Assuming he is a MS resident, staying in state could save him 100k+ (maybe 150k+) in tuition compared to the other schools. Something to think about if he gets accepted to the others.

My son wants to do his in Pulmonary Critical Care. I would have liked for him to sub-specialize in Endocrinology, because there is great demand for it, but PCC is pretty much in demand also.
I'm sure whatever he chooses he will do well.

Congratulations to you and to your son. Despite all the changes that have affected the field, it’s still an amazing honor to practice medicine.
