This isn’t a “could’ve been me” post at all. But I’ve been on the verge of tears today playing with my boys who go to a Presbyterian preschool. It’s just one half-day a week right now. But apparently that’s all it takes.

You sort of cope with a lot of this stuff by convincing yourself (completely irrationally) that “well, that’s XYZ. We don’t do XYZ.”

Can’t even do that here.

We don't know yet. Why don't we wait and see instead of responding with knee-jerk reactions to ban inanimate objects that have never been an issue until recently?

With all due respect? How long are we supposed to wait and see exactly? I don't claim to know the answers either fyi. But just being content with watching kids be murdered while we change nothing doesn't do it for me.

What's your solution?

Or are you just one of those "we must do something" soccer mom types?

I’m assuming you are a troll.

Can you imagine the chaos of an active shooter event is everyone is armed? no one would know who are what they are shooting at.

You caught that notion as well?

Why would they need to do this?

Because it's going to end up being a maladjusted white guilt progressive who thought she had to save America from literal Nazis brainwashing a new generation of Nazi children at the Christian school that traumatized her with literal violence when they told her to act right.

It's idiotic to ignore the fact that we've passed several gun laws/restrictions over the years.

We quite literally HAVE been changing things and it doesn't seem to be working. It's quite possible blame is being placed on the wrong thing...

Guns don't make killers, but they do seem to be a popular weapon of choice for killers.

You're missing my point. Firearms in this country have been much, much easier to access prior to the rise of school shootings. Access to weapons has gone down, while school shootings have gone up. School shootings prior to the 1990s was a very, very rare event, despite being much easier to access firearms.

That points to firearms not being the issue. So any call to "ban assault weapons" is ignoring the root cause. I have my opinions on what that is, as do others. But banning an inanimate object that has never been an issue until recently is a lazy, knee-jerk response at best, and a direct assault on our Constitutional rights as law abiding citizens at worst.

Before you try to make a snarky point, it helps if you actually understand the subject you're trying to be snarky about dipshit.

Background checks currently check for issues dealing with guns that vary from state to state. A nationwide system of uniform laws that would apply across state lines is an egregious attack on the second amendment that can not be tolerated. Enhanced background checks, where a potential buyers background is looked into for more than the 2-3 minutes it takes today is also an egregious attack on the second amendment. There are too few guns in the US and too many regulations allowing good guys to take out the bad guys. Just a modest proposal...

Gun culture is unique to America more than any other country.

Explain why school shootings were unheard of until recently, with much easier access to firearms.

I eagerly await your factual response.

I don't have a solution. But yes, I do believe something must be done. If that makes me a soccer mom, then so be it.

Damn. First call to police came in at 10:13. Shooter was down at 10:27. Brave policemen doing what hero's do. Stark contrast to that nonsense in Uvalde.

Eating too many trans fats can make you fat. At the end of the day, the guy holding the fork is the one responsible.

Not the trans fats. Not the fork.

Thanks for letting me know you don't possess firearms, or have not purchased one since the passage of the 1993 Brady Act that established the NICS.
