Brushy Mountain is still there, several thousand feet above the valleys to the north and south of it. Brushy runs from north of Roanoke all the way (almost ) to Knoxville Tennessee.
I lived near there when he crashed, but it was a different time and I don't remember a local chatter, just sadness.
