99.5% of the people on Earth work harder than New Orleans fast food workers. And yes, I mean New Orleans specfically, although I'm sure many cities would apply here.

Here's a fun fact: Chickfila pays less than McDonalds.

Pretty sure the teenage kids in Boise don't look at flipping burgers as a career

I don't think they understand the theory behind a strike. What exactly is their leverage?

Not sure how much truth there is in this point, but could I posit that if the minimum wage were increased, fewer people would qualify for welfare benefits, which is inherently good?

I don't know what the wage should be; I'm just throwing that out there.

Why wouldn't he? Any group of people attempting a strike such as this one are most definitely morons, regardless of location, race, age, etc.

Lol. Experienced line cooks at high volume local restaurants start out well below that mark.

I wonder how long before these stores are totally automated and have no need for people other than repairs.

I remember minimum age of $1.25 in 1965. It has increased by about $6/hr over the last 39 years. That would be a $0.15/hr increase per year. The increase in cost of living has far exceeded that. Businesses are getting a great deal with today's minimum wage.

This is fantastic news, I hope they are all fired up the their arse when they try to clock back in.

Shitty service from people with shitty attitudes, the fast food industry needs to purge the scum from behind the counters and replace them with better quality people.

No Lucky Dog workers are homeless people working on commission and tips so min wage doesn't apply.

Why does it matter what inflation was or is? Who cares what the cost of living is? A company doesn't create a job to give someone money, or at least that's not their priority. The priority is to maximize profit, so if you can pay any buffoon min wage to press the picture of french fries, why should they be forced to pay anyone more than what is paid now. These people's skills are not worth more than the current min wage. The market has dictated that. Increasing it will do nothing but create inflation until everything balances out again at a higher number. I'll get paid more, because my company will keep pay competitive to keep up with inflation. Prices will increase to account for higher salaries, and everyone will be able to afford what they did before except our money will be de-valued.

And they don't understand this. If you don't like the pay pick up and leave. Oh wait, they haven't learned any skills that they can transfer over to a career. Hmm...

People living in New Orleans, and choosing to eat at fast food joints deserve everything they get.

Although if they start paying 15/hr maybe competent people will want to do the work.

If they start making $15/hr, I will never buy anything at one of these places again. Who do these ppl think will pay in the long run for a 50% increase in pay? BK, Wendy's, McD's, etc surely aren't going to absorb these costs.
