Think Easton and Tulanes band were my favs in Rex.

You must not have seen North Carolina A&M actually perform. They put on a great show by Superior. Easily the best that I saw this year, wish I had recorded it.

Tulane was surprisingly good too. But they were right after NC A&M.

Worst Metairie parade is Pandora, hands down.

This was their first year. I didn't make it out there for it, but I heard some really, really bad things about it. With it being basically a spinoff of Nyx, I thought it would be at least decently run, if not maybe small.

I know they never even got their parade permit until July, and by that time most people have signed up for parades already. Maybe with a full year of recruiting they can get more members.

That parade has looked the exact same for as long as I can remember. They top it off with never throwing shite.

Neither of these are true.

Southern and Talladega seemed to play by us every time they were in a parade. So much fun to listen to. However, the local bands were the highlight for me this year. For some reason we seem to be the hot spot for them to actually play and all of them were incredible. Aug, Landry Walker, Easton, Karr and especially Sophie B. Wright. They stopped by us for about 15 minutes one night and put on a ridiculous show all around.

I like Rex. Almost every float had a themed bead.

Every float did. Cups too. I like Rex for the tradition of it all.

Drop me on a parade route and have 3 floats go by me and I can pick out Rex before any other parade. Minus specific floats for krewes.

Historically they are known for throwing very little. Come on lnch

Maybe but that hasn't been the case the past few years.

Not a fan of Rex at all but I get why others could be into it. I'm pretty sure some of the floats didn't even have anyone on them.

Only float in Rex without out people is the calliope.

I love Mardi Gras day when in college and high school it seemed boring. Nothing is better than spending the morning on St. Charles with the family and the walking down to Royal st. for a few hours before getting a very late lunch and going home.

My mindset of how to have fun at Mardi Gras is about as opposite as it can get from 4-5 years ago. Aside from being on the superior balcony for Bacchus, I had the most fun on Monday when our group went very low key. Took some chairs onto St Charles around 1pm and sat in the sun around Washington. There was pretty much nobody out there until it got dark.

I've got to disagree with you. The weekend before is awesome, but Tuesday is just as good just in a different way.

I am usually with some friends from college. We get belligerent from Friday night until Sunday night. Then go with my family Mardi Gras day. I have just as much fun Tuesday, just two totally different types.

That doesn't mean they all look the same. They have a look that they follow, and there's nothing wrong with that. If you want to criticize them for reusing a few floats every year, you need to do the same for just about every major parade.

Not the last several years in my experience. The parades I listed earlier are much worse.

Mardi Gras has basically become a giant tailgate for us. Traditionally we got out there on Orleans for Endymion, and then after that go to St Charles to find a spot and camp out for Sunday.

This year we skipped Endymion and did Tucks/Iris on St Charles and some of the guys stayed all day and night, and Sunday everyone else came back.

We sit, we eat, we drink, we talk smack, the kids run around and play, the wives do their talking, etc.
