It's a good question. I've always thought it was a legacy of the white flight era & people whose families moved to sterile suburbs. Their current homes are places lacking in culture & community, so they maintain an investment in NOLA as a surrogate. Since they have no political power in the city, they're always frustrated and pissed off and hostile.

No flooding in NOLA, OP is suspect.

There does seem to be some flooding in Houma, though. Guess the Cajuns need to elect better officials, right?
